35 mile Pendleside hospice challenge 6th September 2025
my nephew a long clarets supporter is raising money for this worthy cause see below what he had to say

Earlier this year, my Dad Nigel Holt was cared for by Pendleside Hospice, and the support they gave him — and us as a family — was nothing short of incredible. The compassion, dignity, and warmth they showed throughout such a difficult time is something I’ll never forget. They were there for us when we needed it most, and I feel a deep need to try and give something back.
That’s why me and my brother-in-law Kurt are taking on a new challenge: a 35-mile ultra marathon around Burnley and Pendle. It’s going to be tough, but every step will be in honour of the care my Dad received, and in support of a hospice that does so much for so many.
If you’re able to sponsor me — no matter how small — it would mean the world. Your support will help Pendleside continue their amazing work for other families who need them.
Thank you so much link to giving page below

Every time I do anything for charity - Great North Runs etc, it’s always for Pendleside Hospice.

Was also part of the successful Burnley to Britannia walk for our first game in the Premier League in 2009

Since the National Health Service concept was for 'cradle to grave" I have always believed that hospices should be part of the National Health Service. As such, any decent government would include hospices into the National Health Service.

There's a sponsored abseil down the side of Burnley College next month raising funds for Pendleside.

I was part of a sponsored walk up Mt.Snowdon in 2015 in memory of a Claret friends wife who was a nurse at Pendlside Hospice, who sadly and suddenly passed away the previous year.
I think we raised almost £3k.
We were later invited to a presentation with the cheque at the Hospice and given a mini tour.
They do tremendous work there and you would be amazed how much money is raised each year in charitable donations.
