That’s a shame, thought he’d be ideal for us.Steddyman wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 2:40 pmLooks like we can forget about Sargent. Sunderland are in for him (in addition to Bobby):

In the last year of his contract - I'm surprised more haven't bid for him. Didn't Newcastle get a huge offer turned down last season?jojomk1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 4:19 pmLiverpool agree £35m deal for Guehi with defender set to undergo medical

Agree with your thoughts
He played for Luton in the PL when they got relegated
He then played for them the following year in the Championship when they got relegated
Is he good enough for us now whether in a back 5 or 4 ?

Somebody will mention it, so it might as well be me. Heaton, Gudmundsson and Pope had all just been relegated from the Championship when we signed them. They turned out alright.

If he’s cheap enough there’s a high chance of a profit and player trading is our chosen method to help bridge gap financially. He is decent too, good pedigree and only 23.

I'd have hoped for a big more than Mengi.
We need an absolute physical specimen (appreciate they aren't easy to come by) to play that central CB position. 6ft3 +, chucks their head onto everything.
Not to mention, it's another player who's had significant time out with various injuries and we have enough of those as is.

Dream window would be either a CB or RB and a CAM still to come. But regardless when Luis confirms it's been a good one.

I think Mengi has shown he can play in this league, which is a big thing to us. Less risk, less time to adapt.
Can't see a problem with it at all.

Deal sheets can be done prior to give a 2 hour extension on paperwork completion, though.

You would have thought the likes of Benson, Hladky, Delcroix and Agyei would see little or no hope of getting starts
But presume other clubs thought the same, plus wages may have been an issue
