Andre Gray
Re: Andre Gray
Absolutely delighted for Gray today.
He's now out top scorer with 5 goals, I believe.
Fully expect him to go on now and get a few more.

He scared the Sunderland defence to death. They were glad to see him Ho off.

Re: Andre Gray
Disjointed season, what with the suspension and getting rusty on the bench during the 4-5-1. He has been showing hints lately and today he announced he's back.
Hope he emulates Chas Austin at this level, he will score goals.

On 28th December 2015, Andre scored his 1st hat trick against bristol city in a 4.0 win on the turf.
Almost a year to the day he gets his first in the Premier League!
Well chuffed for him!

Inb4 Chelsea buy him tomorrow.
Re: Andre Gray
Brilliant today.
We all have our own opinions, but some on here regarding Gray were mind boggling. He was awarded a 4 out of 10 by the odd few for his performance against Boro. This despite scoring the winner and worrying their defence constantly (yes, he wasn't at his best, but 4?????) . I Guess some people struggle to see what is clear until it's right under their nose..
I've also been told by a number of posters dissmisively on here that last year was "in the championship". Well here we are with Andre Gray in the Premiership.

Re: Andre Gray
Yep but his record against Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid is truly awful : 0 goals / 0 assists.
And how many goals has he got in the World Cup Finals ? - on the big stage where it really matters ?.....again zero.
Enough said

Re: Andre Gray
working so well as a duo with Barnes! (words I never thought i'd say)
Barnes today had one of his Mangala days. He simply roughed up Didjibodji (sp?) to such an extent that Gray completely capitalised (which is fine by me)

Really chuffed for the lad and when you look back at where he was 3 or 4 years ago. If he keeps improving and learning his trade the future looks very very bright for him and for us too. UTC
Re: Andre Gray
Andre Gray hasn't got a poor first touch , as yesterday proved not just in his goals but his general all round play .

Re: Andre Gray
He reminds me of the great Gerd Muller. Anybody agree?
Re: Andre Gray
Great game yesterday and I'm so happy for Gray . This will give him confidence galore for the City game. BUT, let's not get carried away. It was one game against a very poor Championship level team with half their players out injured. He is still a long way from the finished article and his first touch dose not all of a sudden come good in one game. He will improve by little steps during the course of the season. Ashley kept the CBS very busy and deserves more of the plaudits for helping to create the space for Gray to run into. UTC

Re: Andre Gray
His goal celebration is definitely after Der Bomber!
Re: Andre Gray
I paid close attention to his first touch yesterday and quite honestly he couldn't be faulted. The Sky commentator (I was watching it abroad) blamed Mannone for more or less each goal. It's true he wasn't exceptional but I'm not quite sure what he could have done. And, to be perfectly honest, I don't give a damn.
We need to give AG more opportunities to use his pace. It's as simple as that. He and Barnsey will give other teams something to think about before the season's over.

Unbelievable that anyone can critisize Gray
He is three years into being a professional. He has whaf defenders hate. Speed and strength, allied to a bullet like shot usuall kept low. They are sh!t scared of him. As Dyche says a work in progress. Wonder if a fit Ings (a rare thng in itself sadly) would have scored a hat trick yesterday? Or any of the others mentioned on here?

Totally agree
Better service. Hes missed a lot of games as we know due to some bleeding heart Everton fan and is just finding match fitness. But he needs the service.

Re: Andre Gray
Said before that the forward Gray most reminds me of is Ian Wright. He's a similar build to Wright, similarly explosive, similar tendency to take the ball early, similar ability to generate power in a shot from a short backlift. I think there's a good point been made above about his touch being much better when he is facing goal rather than with his back to it - but this is all part of Andre's learning curve, he's come along way very quickly and there's plenty of finesse yet to be added to the raw materials he has. Wright also obviously had a similar career progression and he added finesse to his game as he got older and wiser and was coached.
But I assume the debate about his pace is done after yesterday. He showed plenty of it yesterday, not only when going through one-v-one, but also when running the channels. Hopefully City play Kolarov at centre back tomorrow - if so, I fancy that match up. It was a shame we didn't see it in the game at Burnley a month ago.

Thought he played decent with virtually zero service all day.

He had a couple of golden chances that he wasted, some poor decisions and some poor touches that left us out of position on the counter.

Re: Andre Gray
he's figured out how to hold the ball up and turn defenders at this level now (something until recently he had struggled with). He'll be a big player for us in the second half of the season imho.

It was chance, that's all. Strikers miss chances all the time. In case you've forgot, the same striker scored 3 two days ago.

I wish he could've saved some of those goals for more important occasions. He cost us a point today

His execution was poor during the chance you're talking about but you're making it out as if it was clear cut. There were 4 defenders in front of him and the goal.
