Okay, now I know you're on a wind-up!

In our previous two tilts at the Premier League it's been really noticeable how we have been over-run by bigger, more athletic midfields. Hendrick is the major reason why it doesn't feel that way any more.

Thought Hendrick was excellent, growing in confidence every game. Ashley Barnes deserves credit as well. Great effort and learning how to play the premier league way. We seem to be maturing generally as a team.

Top Claret wrote:I thought apart from Boyd, who was outstanding, that our Midfield was out of sorts today.
Defours delivery into the box was poor, Marney was totally out of sorts and Hendrick was bang average.
But for our outstanding defending today, and Southampton having no Charlie Austin, we would and should have bee beaten
I'd agree with that except for Hendrick. He was immense yesterday - especially given he was effectively carrying Deano. Looking a Premier league quality player every minute.

Spot on. Opponents bounce off him in much the same way as weve bounced off opponents like Yaya Toure in previous years.

Anyone who thinks Hendrick was "bang average" yesterday is watching a different game / sport to me
In the first half especially he was by some distance our best player....second half we gave a much better team performance with only Marney off the pace.
Nobody is denying that Southampton deserved at least a point - they looked a very good side. But we more than matched them in the second half, the game was a lot more stretched and they were unable to press with the intensity they did in first half.
We defended great and we took one of our chances. They didn't - as they haven't in a lot of their games this season.
