I'm sure we wouldn't be the first team to drop into the bottom 3 for the first time all season when the the final whistle goes on the final day! There must be a precedent for that, even if it's not in the PL. (They don't call me Dark Cloud for nowt!!)
Re: Have we been in the bottom three this season?
When we won the league in 1960 we had never been top until the final whistle at maine road.
The 1999/2000 season,we hadn"t been in the top 2 all season until the final whistle at the racecourse ground.

When we were Champions in '59/'60 the final day was the first time we'd been top all season!
Edit......beat me to it Dazzler.

Nice one Dark Cloud.....I always thought your username was based on an Indian chief or something, but young Caleb told me the other day that you are the eternal pessimist. I should have known that anyway!

I'm pretty sure Bristol Rovers were relegated out of the football league 3 seasons ago on the final day having not been in the bottom two all season. This also came after wild celebrations at Adams Park after victory over relegation rivals Wycombe Wanderers on the penultimate weekend of fixtures. On the final day of the season, Bristol Rovers went down and yes, you guessed it, Wycombe Wanderers survived.Dark Cloud wrote:I'm sure we wouldn't be the first team to drop into the bottom 3 for the first time all season when the the final whistle goes on the final day! Yes, I was actually "christened" by one Jimmy Heaton ESQ many years ago due to my ultra pessimistic nature. But then again my excuse was that I've been following Burnley all my life so what did he expect! "Young" Caleb is actually now 6 foot 3 you'll have noticed and in size 12s and still only 15!!! Scary

My brother-in-law is a Gas Head, he remembers it well too. Having said that, they've bounced back to the heights of the top 10 of League One, so every cloud.

Yeah. That was 13/14 season. It's pretty amazing that in the two seasons since then they got promoted twice and are now 9th in League One.Cheshireclaret wrote:I'm pretty sure Bristol Rovers were relegated out of the football league 3 seasons ago on the final day having not been in the bottom two all season. Re: Have we been in the bottom three this season?
Strangely (no idea why) I have a bit of a soft spot for Bristol Rovers and often look for their results which is why I remembered their last day demise, but I hadn't actually realised at the time they hadn't been in the relegation places all season.
