Net Spend of top 6 clubs

Post by Sidney1st » Wed Jan 18, 2017 12:16 pm

Based over the last 5 years, someone has taken the time to write an article about the current top 6 clubs net spend.

Unsurprisingly City's is horrifically high, but also possibly unsurprisingly Spurs is amazingly good.

It perhaps highlights the point that although Spurs think they are a big club, they aren't. A long way behind the others on the world stage.

To be fair Spijed it's hard for a club to have a high net spend when they sell just the one player for about £80m.
No doubt people would berate them for high spending if they were at the top of that list anyway.

They've also thrown about £300 million at the new stadium I think so add this into these finances and they're bigger than you would think.

My brother in law is an avid Spurs fan and always talks about the goings on there on and off the pitch and it still amazes me how astute Daniel Levy is. Some of the deals he manages to pull off are crazy!

He mentioned something about them gettinga machine that seperates all the dirt thats being dug up for the new stadium and reusing what they can and selling the rest. So even making money from what would normally cost money to dispose of.

Clubs will pay out more in wages over the next 12 months than the whole of the Premier League spent in transfers this summer.

Net spend figures are great though for simple internet arguments.

Didn't Spurs sell Mason for £13m and buy Wanyama for £11m? I think that was very good business. They seem to have a knack of selling higher and buying lower than players 'worth'. They only paid £5m for Dele Alli and he will probably end up going for more than Bale.

He's already being valued at £50 million by some parts of the media, Levy is a tough negotiator, so if Alli carries on improving then at some point I'd expect him to be sold for a similar figure.

The medias valuation of a players means absolutely nothing. I think we saw at the Euros the difference between Gareth Bale and any English player.

If City, United, Barcelona or Real want Dele Alli then Spurs will get at the very least £75m for him. He's easily the most valuable player currently in the Premier League.

That's a fantastic effort from Spurs. Maybe Levy isn't the idiot many make him out to be! Yes they got £85 million for one player, but that only accounts for about a quarter of the money received for player sales. Should they be the role model for the rest of the top 6?

You could argue they've got two of the most valuable players in Alli and Kane. Neither of those would be allowed to leave for less than £70 million!!

Yes we did, but Englands manager as per usual didn't have a clue, whilst Coleman set up his team to play to it's strengths.

Alli will go for a ridiculous amount of money, he's overtaken the likes of Barkley and Wilshere as being the current English wonder kid, but he's actually got an end product on a consistent basis unlike the other 2.

Levy will make sure he gets his money's worth as and when he sells him.

20 years old, 50 plus appearances for Spurs with 20 goals....
He won't go for peanuts and it isn't entirely unreasonable to think he will sell for similar money to Bale.

Aye, he lost the England v Wales game and all the English players won it.

Looking at the figures he's got the luxury of being able to do that if he wants. At least he's not losing money! Watching how City are performing at the moment when considering the cost... well, it's mind-blowing!

Alli is only 20. If he keeps improving, and the way prices have gone stupid, there is every chance he will go for similar/more than Bale.

Spurs will become a massive club with the new stadium. Make no bones about it staying onsite and nearly doubling your attendances is a massive step for them. Selling out Wembley for home games shows how big they can be and sponsorship will go through the roof for them.
The big clubs will just keep on getting bigger so they are acting at the right time. The same goes for Everton when they get their new stadium.

They're also buildig an affordable housing complex and having supermarkets etc around the new ground. Spurs will end up being a HUGE club, with rumours of a ground share with an NFL franchise soon also..... Pochetino is the first manager that has gained Levy' trust and has seems to found a club that's a perfect fit for him. Expect a big change over there and the deals that you'll find when you dig deeped into Spurs transfers will truly shock you with the sneaky add ons in there. I'm sure they got something like an extra (unexpected) £6/7 million when Modric/Bale won the super cup with Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago.

I see spurs as a top 4 version of our selves. We're both trying to break into those little mini leagues in the Premier League and we're both not willing to break the bank doing it. Both building for a bright future with talented (homegrown) young players coming through. Its a shame they didn't win the league last year as they could have built on from that.
