Burnley Transfers

Post by exclaret » Thu Jan 19, 2017 11:28 am

Guys

I had to get this rant out as I'm fed up of seeing it.

Transfer RUMOURS are exactly what they are and that's RUMOURS.

They were created by Murdoch to give people GOSSIP. 99% of all rumours have ZERO credibility - they are simply made up.

When and if we table bids for players then wait for somebody official to comment.

Burnley in particular are exceptionally good at keeping their transfer business out of the media - that's because they know they'll get outbid easily and can get other clubs aroused by the prospect of Burnley being interested.

Have we bid for Brady? Is Snodgrass coming? Is Messi coming to Burnley when he's 37? NODODY knows.

Even Darren Bentley (Burnley media) doesn't know until it's pretty much happened.

Burnley being a smaller club than others (less people involved) means there's even a less chance of a mole letting information out than other clubs.

/Rant

Gossip and rumours are lifeblood of messageboards such as this one during the transfer window.

If it winds you up that much, you can always steer of threads that may involve transfer speculation?

Just an idea.

Somebody official generally does comment, but it is usually somebody official from the other club or the agent of the player we've made the bid for.

I didn't even open this thread, because of the title. I guessed it would just be speculation.

If Messi isn't coming then that's it, I'll not bother with a season ticket in about 8 years.

Can't believe transfer rumours are only rumours. Who would have ever thought it?

I've honestly no idea what your point is?
The media do know what goes on, it's not just the clubs that know.
Some rumours are made up, some aren't.
I enjoy the rumours (that make sense) it's part of the transfer window which I enjoy.

I think everybody on here knew about most of our signings before the club announced it, through details released by the media.

I beg to differ mr ExClaret.

Gone are the days of arriving at the ground and finding a name in the lineup you've never heard of before.
It's more and more difficult for people like Boden to get ahead of the game when a) the club asks them not to say anything or b) the link appears on twitter and is all over the web before they can get something written up.

The number of visitors to this board doubles during the transfer windows because everyone enjoys the speculation and the anticipation of news about incoming players. Rumour mongoring is all part of the fun.

Must dash, I've got to go on footy rumours now and tell them that an exclaret told me we've signed a pre-contract agreement with Messi.

Views also double when I post a topic, I believe.
