Maybe he'll let us have those bricklayers when they've finished building that wall keeping Mexicans out ?
We can then crack on keeping the frogs, Irish, Welsh and Scottish out
Lowbank - there is too much in your post for me to tear apart as I am on my way out to play football.Lowbankclaret wrote:Depends on your outlook.
Do I like what he said about women, NO.
Do I like the fact a self made man who is not a normal politition is now in power, yes.
Normally the people who have all the money control the power, do they care about the minions, absolutely not as long as they toe the line and dont cause too much trouble they dont give a sh1t about us.
Thats the reason they try to sell us the line that Russia is our enemy and always about to attack us.
Here in the UK London was prosperous while we suffer. The Banks bankrupted us and now they are paying huge bonuses again while we are being ground down by austerity.
When Thatcher was in power she was happy to give away our jobs and shut our industries.
Well now its our turn to watch those money grabbing Bankers jobs go abroad. I am glad.
I firmly believe our industries can win work world wide as we still have skilled workers and are very competitive.
There is a shift in world order, I for one think and hope it is going to be a good thing.
Both the UK and USA have centralised the wealth. The minions have revolted
A modern day equivalent of the bubonic plague would be good for the global population crisis, but that doesn't mean you'd want it to actually happen.Lowbankclaret wrote:Well I for one think he will be good for America.
He could well be good for us to post brexit.
Yeah, it's great when the 'little people' rebel against the establishment by voting for even richer and more dubious crooks than before. That'll show em!HatfieldClaret wrote:Not the greatest day in world politics, but that's what you get when the 'little people' get hacked off being told what's good for them by the liberal metropolitan political classes.
A bit like the Brexit referendum.
Not sure how you come to that conclusion.JohnMcGreal wrote:A modern day equivalent of the bubonic plague would be good for the global population crisis, but that doesn't mean you'd want it to actually happen.
The guy is so far out of his depth it's scary. The only thing we can hope for is that he doesn't do too much damage before his impeachment.
Which factories has he prevented from closing? A link to a news article will do.Lowbankclaret wrote:I think he has a sense of social conscience, he has already stopped some factories closing and jobs moving out of the USA.
Lets see how he performs but if he does deliver on providing jobs for Americans. He will become popular, if he doesnt. he will either just last 4 years or someone will shoot him.
Businesses people, eh? You wouldn't want people like that governing a rich and powerful country. Hang on, what's that? Oh it's just billionaire business man Donald Trump being sworn in as POTUS and his new cabinet of corporate CEO's behind him.Lowbankclaret wrote:Trump reaches deal to keep 1,000 jobs at Indiana plant from moving to Mexico.
Guardian headline.
Depends on which paper you read.
Ford later denied they were closing the plant, as they would.
This is the same Ford that decided it was finacially better to pay out for the people killed by selling cars with incorrect tyres than to recall the cars and replace them as it would be cheaper to pay for dead people.
Don't forget that fracking also produces an enormous amount of "cheap" natural gas - and it's nat gas, burnt in power generation, that has displaced a lot of coal fired generation, cutting the demand for coal and thus the price of coal falls - and the coal mines are closed. The switch from coal to nat gas is reason why USA has a good record on reducing carbon emissions.kentonclaret wrote:Trump secured crucial wins in Ohio and Pensylvania promising to reopen the coal mines and putting thousands back to work down the pits mining coal.
The huge success of fracking in the USA providing a surplus of cheap oil makes this just an empty promise made to secure vital votes in key states. Global and environmental rules on climate change also make this pledge a non starter.
More chance of the jam butty mines reopening in Knotty Ash.
Is this not just a description of Trump, that leaves out all the really bad bits?Lowbankclaret wrote:Normally the people who have all the money control the power, do they care about the minions, absolutely not as long as they toe the line and dont cause too much trouble they dont give a sh1t about.

On the positive side, Obama did 1) wear some good suits. 2) not have orange hair. 3) not say "pussy" (in public). 4) ...er, help me here.According to a Council on Foreign Relations survey, in 2016 alone Obama dropped 26,171 bombs. That is 72 bombs every day.
He bombed the poorest people on earth, in Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan. Every Tuesday – reported the New York Times – he personally selected those who would be murdered by mostly hellfire missiles fired from drones. Weddings, funerals, shepherds were attacked, along with those attempting to collect the body parts festooning the “terrorist target”.
A leading Republican senator, Lindsey Graham, estimated, approvingly, that Obama’s drones killed 4,700 people. “Sometimes you hit innocent people and I hate that,” he said, but we’ve taken out some very senior members of Al Qaeda.”
Nato – led by Obama and Hillary Clinton – launched 9,700 “strike sorties” against Libya, of which more than a third were aimed at civilian targets. Uranium warheads were used; the cities of Misurata and Sirte were carpet-bombed. The Red Cross identified mass graves, and Unicef reported that “most [of the children killed]were under the age of 10”.
Under Obama, the US has extended secret “special forces” operations to 138 countries, or 70 per cent of the world’s population.

Putin? Anyone else he owes vast sums of money to? Wait - we don't know who that is as he still hasn't released his tax returns, despite promising to do so during at least one of the debates.Lowbankclaret wrote:Or you can have puppet politician who is controlled by the people with money who does what he is told and says what he is paid to say.
At least Trump is not being controlled by others.

What? You mean apart from big business?
"The competitor, Hilary, if that was any of us we would be doing life."
Life imprisonment for having an insecure e-mail server? You are being serious?
"I take it you think jobs should be shipped out to low cost economies. Should we welcome ISIS. You think drugs are a good thing???"
Now you are just being silly. Every US President fights against that, but usually by trying to be fair to competitors. Trump is a protectionist (or at least everything he says suggest he is). Trade Wars help nobody.
"I work my balls off every day to keep jobs in the North West, even recently creating some."
Good and fair play for that, but can I ask you a question - does what you do require international trade deals? Are you expecting an economic shortfall in the near future because of Brexit/Trump/world issues?
Our economy is doing really well, but its fuelled (again) by household debt, and that went really badly wrong before.
Regarding beer and politics, more than happy to and be prepared for me to be just as annoyed and disagreeable in real life about the current situation!

Thats the worry, will it damage us before we recover.Lancasterclaret wrote:Fair doos Lowbank, and the situation with the bankers is something I also agree with.
I agree that there is nothing stopping us being a world power in trade, and eventually I'm sure we will be with the right investment and government.
Its how long that will take, how much damage it will do and (though I appreciate not from you) effects that this will have on the social cohesion of the country.
