Still one of the funniest things I've seen at a football ground (along with Preston's keeper going beserk at the Burnley fans after the great 4-3 comeback a few years ago)

I had a 5 hr drive each way to take my daughter to her first visit to Turf Moor, thinking after 90 minutes of football that I had made a bad decision. Only to find that I had witnessed 'one of those moments'. Also that it had been live on BBC2 all along

The streaker and Bertie Bee.
A regularly jam-packed Turf Moor and Longside in the 60s and early 70s. The noise, the atmosphere, the smell of battle.
The FA Cup run in 74.

Re: We all remember the amazing goals....
Blackpool, late 90s and their supporter of the month being interviewed at half time in front of the away fans in the covered paddock. We all gave him so much abuse that he turned turned to us, effing and jeffing and making hand gestures, only for the local Plod to take him away in handcuffs for inciting the crowd.
Re: We all remember the amazing goals....
The game at Chelsea, when playing Premier League sides and beating them was a novelty.
Swanky Pants Dog Troupe half time entertainment at the Turf.
The old scorecards around the pitch edge at half time and trying to check the league scores as they were put up.
Leighton James in his pomp.
Seeing my team play at Wembley, old and new versions.
Ian Wright being signed for Burnley, absolutely unbelievable at the time, and even more so when he ran out to play against Wigan.
Spurs cup semi final at the Turf, one of the great nights, odd considering we lost the chance to go to Wembley, which at the time I thought I would probably never see Burnley achieve.
Muddy pitches
Driving on an away game to York, being late and seeing floodlights in the distance heading for them, only to find on reaching the lights it was York railway yards!

Glad it was a memorable game for your daughter's first outing

Ian Moore in "The Gnohere match" at deepdale.
Ball comes off the bar from a distance shot, the keeper is on the floor! Ian Moore just has to nod it....... right at the keeper.
We all know how it ended though.

Yorkshire away memories
Two Barnsley away memories
90s the ref dropping his cards and Paul Stewart finding them and hiding them.
1-0 away victory from promotion few years back. Stanislas (injured) turning up to ground in fancy car and attendant not letting him in as his name wasn't on the list. We showed attendant the match programme with his name on it but it made no difference.
Huddersfield away 80s - Trevor Steven literally crawling from the half way line to touch line badly injured because the knob of a ref wouldn't stop the game
York - on the pitch!!!

Re: We all remember the amazing goals....
The differing emotions in a week from complete despair and resignation at the end of Crewe away to the sheer unadulterated relief of Orient at home in 87.
The vikings invading Carlisle in 92.
The bloke on the lilo in the same game.
York
Scunthorpe
Wembley 94 and 2009
Ewood from the 5 nil drubbing to two wins in a row.
The Spurs semi, which was unbelievable.
Reading.
And many more.

Ray Hankin chinning Gordon McQueen when Leeds visited in 1974/5 season. McQueen pulled Hankin back, the latter responding with an uppercut from what seemed like ankle level....

Re: We all remember the amazing goals....
An odd match played on a Tuesday when the season had finished everywhere else. The game was Burnley 0 Hull 2 which promoted Sheffield United, (Hull needed to win by 3 goals)
I can recall seeing it kick off in the longside with some United fans when Hull scored around 2 minutes in. On the pitch at the end some of the Sheffield fans were hugging Hansbury. It was also Billy Hamiltons last appearance in a Burnley shirt.

Highbury 1971: Clarets were struggling in the then 1st division, possibly already down. Arsenal were flying high, possibly already confirmed Champions. But Burnley ran rings around them for long periods with a superb display. Rather than get frustrated by their own team the HIghbury crowd sportingly applauded our moves and the North Bank even broke into a chant of "Burnley, Burnley" for a few moments. We ended up losing 1-0, but won a lot of respect.

Some bloke running on pitch in one of our games against bar stewards and squaring up to one of them wearing black gloves.
Driving back from Tranmere once with no windscreen in our van after some scally decided to renovate it for us.

Paddy Roache's penalty.
Re: We all remember the amazing goals....
Mid 70s, Arsenal’s bustling forward John Radford gave Colin Waldron a finger wagging after a challenge, seconds later in a risky attempt to embarrass Radford, Waldo let a pass roll between his legs and turned sharply leaving Radford flat on his backside – how the Longside loved that.Cajun wrote:Springing to mind out of nowhere as random thoughts:

‘Calamity’ Joe Corrigan’s impression of ‘a man trying to catch a piece of soap in the shower’ after trying to dummy Paul Fletcher at the Beehole End, resulting in Fletch’s gentle toepoke from 18yds trickling slowly into the net with Joe in forlorn pursuit. 3-0 win over City about 74.
Watching the lads walk out at Wembley for the Sherpa final in 88. Never thought I would see us play there. And fulltime at Wembley 2009. Never thought I would see us get back to the top flight.
Napoli’s Panzanato stamping Andy Lochhead’s head into the Turf Moor mud – and my old man’s explosion or rage at the incident.
Our non-stop singing of “We Shall Overcome” from the travelling Clarets at Watford (4-0 down at halftime) on the final away game ‘relegation outing’ in 1980. We certainly have.
Wondering if I would ever be able to feel my feet again after being forced to hand over my ‘toe-tector’ boots and so stand on the open terrace at Luton in my socks with freezing rain coming down, Dec 77.
Crying when my hero Willie Irvine got his leg broken by an awful challenge In the cup replay at Everton.
Receiving a ‘Best Wishes’ card from Stan Ternent when I was emigrating to the US.
Being staggered at the huge number of Clarets on the old Kop at Blackpool on my first away game probably 66.
Taking my lad to the Turf for the first time – lost 3-0 to Gillingham….
Glenn Little’s “unplayable” second half at Bradford in 3-2 win 2001.
Full time, May 9th, 1987, on the pitch…[/quote]
Superb stuff Cajun

That was the last league game of the season. Cardiff were in the cup final and the Welsh FA(f*"king arsenholes) over turned the red card so he could play. One final I didn't want either side to win.HendricksHair wrote:Unsure if I remember this correctly but I'm pretty sure I remember Darren Purse being sent off for taking a chunk out of Andy Cole's leg then Cole proceeded to sprint down the tunnel to confront him?

The whole 1st team squad sitting in the same carriages and chatting with supporters on the League Liner coming back from West Ham. Paul Fletcher and a couple of others were playing poker with 2 or 3 fans. I know I couldn't afford the table stakes!
