Sorensen, Makin, Bould, Thome, Gray, Summerbee, Hutchison, Schwarz, Johnston, Quinn, Phillips

  - writing that has made me feel so sad. Compare that to the drivel we have now. Only Defoe and Pickford would come close to getting a run out.

I think blame Subbuteo but for some reason it's a lot easier in the days when teams only used 11 players and the odd sub, loved this team:
Southall
Stevens
Mountfield
Ratcliffe
Bailey
Bracewell
Steven
Richardson
Sheedy
Heath
Sharp

Neville to Campbell, Campbell to Rio, Rio to Scholesy, Scholesy Gerrard. Gerrard to Beckham, Beckham to Heskey, Heskey to Owen's a goal.

Close enough :)

I liked Niall Quinn. Even bought his autobiography!

Rejected - a Sunderland team actually came to my mind. I saw you win 4-0 at sheff united and it was the perfect 4-4-2 line-up.
Same wide men as you have there but Kevin Ball and Lee Clark played in centre mid and bridges played alongside Quinn. Not sure Bould played that day but I'm pretty sure it was the season you won the championship with 100 odd points

Yeah, Bally and Clark played in the championship. I was there that day Mickey Bridges bagged a couple. We were literally unstoppable that season.

The year we went up with record points and our first 2 in the premier league were UNBELIEVABLE!! Best times following the lads.

FCBurnley wrote:Thanks for the heads up but we would still have won with 10 men. Ray would certainly have given me some deserved stick. Old age is my excuse. We had our tiffs on here but I miss him a lot(sorry for the pun Ray).
Had lots of great times with him in the day. Do I know you ?
Sorry only just seen this.No you don't know me.I have lived in the Rossendale valley all my life(67 years)so doubt our paths would have crossed.
Only met Ray through the other site and met up at a Burnley match and then in France as he lived near a friend of mine in Brittany.
We have a static Caravan in Port Haverigg near Millom in Cumbria and Ray and Margaret came to visit us and moved here from France. We became good friends and went out with them often and went to Southern Ireland on holiday with them.
It was very sad his passing as we had many BFC related conversations and you got a mention occasionally.

Your team that you posted was very much the team that I would have put as that was more or less the team when I started watching.
