Consider Justin Rose a few years back. He was very similar to Darikwa, and now look at him
Secondly, if we're talking about Darikwa individually in terms of crosses/final pass, we tend, as a team, to be around 60-70% completion rate. As a team we give the ball away more than most other teams. So I find it harsh to be picking on Darikwa specifically
Justin Rose was pretty quick but he kept having to wait for his caddie to catch up.

I'm not sure how you can compare a Burnley fullback with a golfer? I don't see the similarities.NRC wrote:so two observations from me.

Re: Darikwa
It's always good to see Derek in action but he really is an enigma , he's strong ,free running and very athletic but the occasional poor final ball and poor pass mixed with indifferent defending makes him very tricky to gauge especially against a very poor side , that said it's great to see a side with 7 changes as good or better than the previous starting 11. With perhaps Kights aside ( and of course TH) this side would be more than acceptable

Poor, but not the worst player on the pitch, toss up between Tarky and Flans for that title.

Re: Darikwa
Both full backs were poor but in Flanagans favour he is a right back being asked to play on the left. Probably no better than if Ward or Lowton was playing on the opposite flank.
Darikwa on the other hand lost possession on short passes and crossed like Ray Charles.

Re: Darikwa
Darikwa is not good enough to be our 2nd choice Right back if we are looking to progress. Also i think today put to bed any thoughts on Tarks being a midfield player for anything other than a few minutes stop gap!

We have to stay in this division first if we're looking to progress and get a better 2nd choice right back in.Bashclaret wrote:Darikwa is not good enough to be our 2nd choice Right back if we are looking to progress.
Then again if we're to progress in this division (if we stop up) we'll need a better first choice right back..... and left back, wide players, forwards and centre midfielders etc.
Re: Darikwa
Darikwa is our 3rd choice rb and that is ok... He probably won't get a single league minute unless we are hit with injuries and suspensions.

Re: Darikwa
I agree BoT. If we stay up then we need to be looking for a a new right back who is at least as good or better than Lowton. That said i like Lowton & on the whole he has done very little wrong this season.. 1 step at a time & gradual progression each transfer window (which is what we are doing now)!

Exactly Bash, that's why we have Darikwa as our 2nd choice right back at the moment (3rd choice really but Flanagan isn't ours).Bashclaret wrote:That said i like Lowton & on the whole he has done very little wrong this season.. 1 step at a time & gradual progression each transfer window (which is what we are doing now)!
