It's ugly by design, it's all wrong and disturbing i.e. 'what hick place have we come to?'

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
talksport said teams would rather play away at the nou camp. difficult to disagree.
the atmosphere has massively helped. four corners of Burnley fans.
i remember being 2 up against Leeds and the noise they made as the players went down the tunnel, through half time and as they came out was a huge factor
the players have all four corners of the ground with them not against. its no coincidence.

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
the atmosphere has greatly improved, away followings are bigger so that helps. Prime example for me was last night, try as we might we couldn't get a break through and the crowd got louder and louder. It sounded amazing on TV and it evidently lifted the players, so to all those that go on and sing your hearts out, pat yourself on the back because it's making a huge difference !

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
Surprised it doesn't mention the slope. Cotterill always reckoned that was a helpful factor to Burnley.
But agree with the above, I think confidence has an awful lot to do with it.

New Background for the work's laptop sorted

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
Man of Kent, I have a bigger file of the picture, so that it can be printed up bigger, if you send me an email address I cans send you the file (as long as you don't make any money from it!). I was going to send the file to whitewall.com and have the print laminated with an acrylic front, it's costs about £60 to have that done so that it's got a professional display, but I've no room to put the picture.
The original is not for sale, as yet, though I've thought of making a more worked up picture in oils maybe, one day.

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
Just out of interest, why was there that big mound of earth behind the Longside, meaning you approached it from the top down, instead of bottom up like we do now?
Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
Or, tell me the size of print you want and I'll meet up with you and give it in person, I live in Canterbury. 30 x 40, 45 x 60, or 60 x 80 cm. There's printers in town who will do it at a reasonable price, if you wanted a print to frame.

Is nobody else slightly concerned about the amount of empty seats?

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
The Longside was a big pile of cinders from the coal tips of the area I think and they just but terracing on it. The mound was the other side of the hill they made. Looks primitive now, doesn't it?
Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
You paid at ground level then walk up to the top and then down to wherever one stood. Pay at the bee Hole entrance walk up the back and then the first view was from the corner at the top, I always went on the Longside that way.

I like the beer hut at the the top! Spent a few bob there and used to sit weather permitting on the steps between the BeeHole and Longside at half time. UTC

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
I think you should work it up in oils but I must say I prefer the watercolour effect of this one. Fully understand about your need to keep the original but I'd certainly be interested if you ever decide to let it go. I'm sure you could sell numbered prints of the original too and make a bit of money for yourself.Pstotto wrote:Man of Kent, I have a bigger file of the picture, so that it can be printed up bigger, if you send me an email address I cans send you the file (as long as you don't make any money from it!). Thanks very much for your kind offer regarding the file. Is there a way to send you my email address without it being displayed publicly on here (not that I don't trust my fellow posters!!

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
A great picture Pstotto, you are very talented.
Closer inspection brings back memories of the Bee Hole end bogs and the long flight of steps up to them. Things have changed at the Turf since those days.

Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
Pstotto - that's a wonderful watercolour. Any objection to me contacting you to get hold of a print or digital copy? Will obviously pay ££s. I can even pick up from Canterbury as I live at the opposite end of the M20 from you.
Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
Sausage, email me (address post 27) and I'll get back to you. I'll find out how much it costs to print it up and we can meet up or I can send it.
Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
It surprises me how often we kick towards the Jimmy Mac second half. If I'm an away captain and I win the toss, the first thing I'd do is switch it to disrupt our rhythm
Re: what are the secrets of fortress Turf Moor?
I can't remember the last time teams changed ends after tossing a coin. it already seems to be decided beforehand. I used to think we did better going towards the CFS in the second half, I wonder if anyone has kept any statistics season by season, regarding that matter, to see if there's anything in it.

It's good to read something about us that's genuinely well researched and not condescending nor patronising, even if they don't come close to solving why there is such a disparity between home and away. If anyone knows why, please send answers to Mr S Dyche, Turf Moor etc...
