Maybe the title is a bit dramatic, but today I have put my Fender Stratocaster guitar for sale on eBay.

My dreams of being a rock star are over, and it's time to move on! *sob sob, weep weep*.

Any one else held on to something for years only to realise it's a pipe dream?

At 37 years old, weighing 17 stone and with little or even less footballing ability I still dreamt of playing centre forward for Burnley.

Then Dyche took over and I had to accept I would never be Dyche fit.

Maybe when he leaves there may still be some hope.

I'm not sure they're my dreams, but I'm constantly coming up with schemes of becoming a musicican or an entertainer of some form.

I bought a keyboard (the musical kind!) for myself on my 21st birthday (as you do). Spent a few hundred quid on it and only really ended up using it to amuse mates when ******. Managed to sell it for a decent price a year or so after purchase so not too bad.

Last year I bought a device to stream PS4 gameplay live as well as a rather professional microphone. Made about 3 videos and got bored. Sold all of the equipment a few weeks later.

I didn't play for a long time, until my children were old enough, and we could practice together.

I might not have dreams of being rock stars, but it's a useful hobby.

I have put the reserve quite high in some reluctant hope of it not being met...

I do have an acoustic which I play with more than anything, it just feels weird, almost like selling part of my early adulthood. But it's been sat in it's case under the stairs for ages!

I bought a fully chromed, walnut knecked resonator last year. It's a beautiful thing. Never played a note in my life but I keep looking at it and saying "one day" to myself

I've always wanted to draw and paint the next level of art; visions I'd seen on drugs. I tired to extricate myself from the drama by writing a theoretical model of how it might be achieved. I feel a certain amount of satisfaction and relief that I've made a contribution to art via this, but the hard bit is getting other people interested. I think post-modernism represents a stepping back from the drama and perhaps to make stories about the drama, about why that story is of importance. Again, I wrote a novel about it, but the same problem remains as to how to generate interest. I one could rid oneself of any need for any interest, but one is alive and wants to take part in the human story, I think I do, anyway.
At least if you have a go at something then you know and have satisfied a bit of curiosity and also it's a form of appreciation. I play along to Acker Bilk on YouTube with my clarinet to 'Strangers on the shore' but I would never be good enough to play it to an audience, but it satisfies via a form of connection.

I've always wanted to work for one of the top car companies, doing something exciting, in design or some area connected.

I applied for McLaren a few years ago and made it to the 3rd/ final interview stage, but just missed out.
That was in their parts department, making their parts catalogue, purchasing etc.

Last year a friend of mine who works there invited me to apply for a different job there, working with him looking at serviceability etc.
It's no good building a car where you have to remove half the body to change the oil filter, which is how the P1 ended up originally

I made the choice not to apply, because after my first effort I had my daughter and seeing her every morning and evening far out ways driving an hour minimum each way to McLaren every working day thus missing out on time spent with her.
Plus I'm 37 this year and I possibly don't have the drive /determination that I used to have and would need to make it work for me at McLaren.

Like a couple of others on here 37 this year leaving pub I have run for 7 years to set up a restaurant and bar but mortgage needs forcing me to sell my beloved Rolex Daytona panda dial and Star Wars collection but it will be worth it.
