Mildly Interesting Film
Mildly Interesting Film
Don't know if this has ever been posted before, apologies if it has. It's a film from the early sixties about the Burnley School of Nursing which I came across when my mum was watching it on Facebook (she was at the school in the mid-sixties). It's a 40 minute film mainly about dull nursing stuff, but at about 30 minutes it does get interesting when it shows crowds going into the Turf and the parade for the returning '62 cup final team. Some scenes of the town centre follow.
I thought it was interesting anyway, never seen the '62 footage before.

I turned it off when it said Blackpool and it's "lovely beach"
Joking aside, great insight into the NHS of old.

Mum was a young nurse in 62. Notbon the film but suspect she might have recognised a few faces.
'Green sleeves' music was rather annoying. But things look very different.
My daughter is a nurse now...so proud of her!

Re: Mildly Interesting Film
Excellent posting which brought back happy memories. I remember Victoria hospital after visiting
several trips for tetanus jabs for injuries through playing out and football injuries over the years. If
I remember correctly, they were circular wards.
Is it an omen, as I note that a poster on the wall outside the turf was advertising the next home game
which was v Chelsea ?
Also noted numerous rattles in the scenes outside the town hall - didn't see anybody killed with them though

Seen this a few times. Nostalgic stuff. Not sure if it's one of Sam Hanna's? If not, it was shown along with some of his films one evening at the Mechanics many years ago. I recall going with my dad.
