Unless he gets a ridiculous ban, he has to be signed on for another year at least. Immense.

Give him three - one to play & two to coach/get his badges. You cannot buy what he gives to the Club.

wish he was 5 years younger but surely he has been beyond anyone's expectations. Rangers fans mustn't recognise him

He said in an interview a week or so ago, he is the fittest he has ever been due to the work Burnley have done with him.
He thought he could play another two seasons easy.
I would sign him for two, immense today again.

Re: Joey Barton
He was simply too good for the players at Rangers.
He'd be playing balls that he would expect players to be running to.
We had similar issue when Wright played for us and he was making moves/runs that he expected balls to play into but we didn't really have the players to do that

Absolutely the Dogs him and Barnes never let them rest, I bet there are a few of their players extremely happy they will not be playing us again this season.

If we stay up, 2 things need to happen:
1) Sean Dyche signs another contract
2) Joey Barton goes to Sean Dyche's house for an omelette.

He can go on for a good few years at this level.
He's never had pace and his game is built around that fact and his ability to read the game is second to none.
Sign him up on a !longer deal. No risk at all with this lad.

What has surprised me is how quickly he has been able to get to the undoubtedly high fitness levels required in a Sean Dyche side. I know Barton has a chequered past but I think he's a fantastic role model at present. He has looked after himself well and his disciple, quality and leadership speaks for itself.

Re: Joey Barton
He gives us superb game management in there, for all their various qualities none of our other CMs come close in that respect.
All the effort, energy and running that comes as standard from our players is channeled by Barton into something that bit more effective and meaningful. Would be a great asset once his playing days are over - if he wants to move into coaching.

Barton was his usual best, some great passes and imperious industry in the middle of the park.

With Joey on the pitch we can't/won't ever be bullied, I know Deano would also never let that happen but Barton is a master of midfield dominance.

Re: Joey Barton
Absolutely immense. Joey probably thinks he's got something to prove and in such a short space of time since the debacle in Scotland and the potential ban. However without Joey last season we possibly wouldn't be in the PL now and if we had him at the start of this season I'm sure we'd have been safe by now. If ever there was a perfect fit it's Joey and Burnley and long may it continue.

Re: Joey Barton
Makes you wonder what was going through his head when he decided to go up to Scotland when you see how well-suited he is to our team. Not to mention how he's coping with the demands of playing at a higher level, and at the age of 34. Pretty remarkable how things have turned out for him, and us this season.

Re: Joey Barton
He's a cut above at times. When the ball was airborne following a challenge and Barton lost sight of it he spun 360 degrees and finally located the ball before playing a perfectly weighted first-time ball into the channel for Gray with his weak foot. His first time pass into Lowton was equally impressive.
I've never been a huge fan of the man, but it's impossible not to love the guy when he puts on a Burnley shirt.

Re: Joey Barton
I noticed they got caught up from a corner as we broke away (I think) and it looked like Costa was holding Joey back from getting out of the box, they were certainly tangled and I think with Joey trying to escape Costa had him held back, there looked to be arms flying and a proper struggle.HendricksHair wrote:Loved how he pointed at Costa as though to say "I'll f*cking have you"
Not seen anything back yet on TV - the way Joey reacted it looked like an elbow to the face and he was certainly annoyed about it.
Re: Joey Barton
He was exceptional in every aspect yesterday and his challenge on Willian was beautifully timed, as there could have been real danger. Pity he had to give his booking to that, rather than Mr Costa!
Re: Joey Barton
They showed the replay of that incident at half time and there seems no evidence at all that there was an elbow from Costa - if there would have been he would have been looking at a ban this morning. Joey might have thought he got caught in the eye with something as they were wrestling with each other, but to me they both looked to be giving as good as each other.
Costa is a physical player - but he is just a much more technically gifted version of our Ashley !! Most teams and fans would absolutely love to have a Diego Costa as there centre forward....and he would get into most teams in Europe. Players like Lord Patrick Snooty Bamford are not going to survive in the Premier League.
As for Barton I thought he played brilliant yesterday - the 3rd game in a row he has been outstanding.
His tackle on the Voice`s Will I Am was also exactly what was needed. Will I Am had just come on the pitch and was fresh....when he picked up the ball deep in his own half and when set off running he looked like he could run the full length of the pitch. Our players were out on their feet and he had already gone past a couple of them like they were walking. Anyone who has seen him play for Chelsea or his previous club (Shaktar ?) will have seen him make 60 or 70 yard runs in the past.
Barton did what everyone says half a dozen England players should have done against Maradona in 1986....anyone who thinks this was a stupid challenge by Barton really does not understand much about football.
