Well I can happily report the only time I've been in there it was full of song, including from me. The occasion was the live screening of the Scunthorpe game. I flew over from Dubai specifically to watch it on the screen.

Please tell me it was the Bob Lord we were sited in, or dementia is setting in.

used to sit in there before the new stands were built and moved overseas. Definitely some healthy replies to the Longside's "Bob Lord, give us a song, Bob Lord Bob Lord give us a song"

I've said this before, but I will take ten of the guys I can see from my seat in the bob lord, and back them to beat any other 10 from anywhere else in the ground. And they will be singing while they do it!

Dementia I'm afraid Nrc the screen faced the JH stand when we played Scunthorpe. You would have been looking at the back of the screen from the BL stand.

Used to sit in the BL a few years ago with a few friends and we tried a song to rival the 'We are the longside Burnlee' chant but it never really caught on, the chorus went:

"We've got rugs and we've got flasks, we are the Bob Lord Burnlee"

Whilst I have sat stood in every stand at turf Moor and have a love for them all at different times stood behind the nets on the bee hole end in the sun lovely in the ******* rain not as nice, on the long side near the back great singing and jumping around but miss some of the action due to either being on the floor or people in front of you and having to keep adjusting position to see. In the cricket-field stand as a youngster going to stand above the tunnel to cheer them out and it. good view from where I used to sit. Bob Lord where I sit 4 rows back behind the away dugout right next to the directors box best overall view in the ground ( I dont see as well as i used to and need glasses but can see both goals all 4 corner flags and no poles in between) I do agree that the singing is not quite the same as in other areas, and I can in fact report I once got told off for shouting cum on Burnley, cumon Burnley,by Frank Teasdale I was sat in the directors box at the time and he turned to me and said ''we don not do that in here you know''. I was stunned and would have said'' perhaps you should'' when L.J blasted a shot in GOOOAAALLL and Mr Teasdale stood and clapped and said to me this is what we do, polite applause. (L.J = Leighton James ) I should also explain that at the time I had a broken ankle and had crutches that had gone flying when we scored and very Kindly Mr Teasdale past one back shaking his head saying '' perhaps next time just clap''.

I hadn't realised such an innocent question could have led to such a froth. After all the replies it genuinely doesn't seem like the BL have ever even managed to join in a rousing "come on Burnley"? Though fair enough as we'll all end up there one day,and the rather overarted teenage giddyness of the CFS is not really all that.

However if someone new to the Turf had read this thread, they'd think the Bob Lord was some colostomy bagged p1ss drenched God's waiting room type affair with hordes of close to death, actually dead, and some evn preserved in formalahyde!

The players respond to chants and singing and cheering them on. they have said as much. thats why we win our games at Turf
Moor. The JH upper Longside is so quiet now all the singing sections in the cricket field stand. So do we now have two Bob Lord stands?? thats my question to all you in there.( Ha Ha)

They chant in honour of the man it is named after
"Top meat he only sold top meat "
"King of the cleaver he was the king of the cleaver"
And to the tune of walking in a winter wonderland
"A pound of mince a kidney pie Bob was a wonderful guy " Then back to sleep.

Ah well, Smudge, thanks for making my Friday. I do recall that now, but did we EVER put a screen in front of the Bob Lord? I seem to remember sitting in there and it was the only stand open.... maybe it was for pre-season one year in the dark days...

In Canada, we are lucky. Nobody sings at any sporting event. But if you go to a CFL game, there's a very good chance of getting clocked in the back of your head by an empty whisky bottle.

Did we do it for the Preston Sherpa Van Northern Final? I was at Deepdale, and also remember attending a screening at the Centre spot sometime later (how long I can't recall?), where hundreds of fans turned up and paid to watch it. Was anyone else off here at that Centre Spot evening?

Sherpa Van Northern Final? Dumb question. We're always "up" for the really big games.

The block closet to the away end certainly aired a few songs when we sat in there a few years ago.

The late, great Rennie Halstead sang this non stop all the way back from Villa in 73 when we won 3 0. Worst train journey of my life!.
Rennie was famous for putting a claret and blue tint on his labrador and sneaking it on the coach to Hillsborough for the semi final. Not sure if he got it through the turnstile.

Sadly with the on speed singing section this would become "father bob" by line 2 followed by a few claps then no nay never

The older fans the BL stand wear a Badge of Honour - in that they've 'been there , done that' in all respects of supporting Burnley through thick and thin. Respect. You'll be there yourself one day.

Torquay away, play-offs 1990-91. The screen, I am told, was in front of the Cricket Field stand on the back of a lorry; the fans sat in the Bob Lord, and had to sit sideways or turn their heads to the left. It wasn't a great success, especially as we lost 0-2.

Compare and contrast the numbers in the respective stands and you may find the BL is as loud as JH especially given the fact that 80% of the noise from JH goes heavenly.Where I sit in BL there must be 80% of the crtitcisms levied at the players for sure, so maybe it is better we are seen and not heard. The fact that my voice drops by 2 octaves after games like Sunday cannot be due to the draught can it?
The best thing from the crowd this season however has to be the lads and lasses in the CF stand. If the crowd is the 12th man then the CF gives that man his arms legs and head IMO
