I'd like to see a bloody good reaction to that performance, next week. That'll be the best tonic for our disappointment.

No. They won't. It will remembered as the year we blew our big chance to stay up or as the year we first managed to stay in the prem.
Honestly, how many times do you reflect back on the Stanley result?

Really? Lincoln looked a decent, well organised side but I don't think that there are too many Jamie Vardy's out there. Those players, like ours, are at that level for a reason. They deserve to be there.

The gap between the haves & have not's was small in comparison (in the 1970's) to what it is in the PL.
If we stay up this season, especially in a comfortable position, it will be seen as one of the biggest success stories in many years!

I said before kickoff today that I'd have taken a defeat if it meant I could take a 17th position finish and stay up. But the thing is, it's not just the defeat - it's how poor we were. We were absolutely utter bonk - not even the bottom end of the Championship in terms of quality. That's what annoys me the most. Hull City will be licking their lips!

Why can't we 'cross' a football, it's ridiculous! Some of Lincoln's crosses were spot on.
It's a basic discipline that needs addressing.

I think we all feel embarrassed some maybe only a little bit (like myself) others maybe more.
Leicester out (against 10 men for over half an hour), but they have Europe that could distract them.
Boro through so that could distract them enough from the league.
This could turn out as a boost to us.
Ward, Mee & Lowton the big winners as today highlights their importance to us.

Was watching Lego Batman the Movie when they scored, my son at home cried his Mum told me. It is his first major disappointment following Burnley, it won't be his last. He will get over it, as will all of us on here Dyche and the players. Let's use this and push on to achieve something truly miraculous and survive in the Prem. Good luck to Lincoln by all accounts deserved there win, Embarressment? no just a bad game of Football. More important things to worry about there's only 1 of the tablets working in Mcdonalds and no balloons now that is truly end of the world stuff. UTC

True, but Royal Engineers won it and were runners up 3 times - obviously a time when amateurs were often better than professionals.
And of course Wanderers who won never lost in a final winning it 5 times.
Yes I know this was before professionalism but worth pointing out in these modern times where the media and others tend to gloss over history.

We missed Ward and Lowton. So much of our good stuff, attack wise and defensively goes through those two. Our wingers are workhorses which is fine when our backs are to the wall in the Premier League but when the onus is on us to do the attacking they're pretty impotent and require strong full backs to help them out - and as I think we all agree, Darikwa and Flanagan don't look like they're up to the task. I've calmed down now and credit to Lincoln but I was absolutely seething earlier, we've put ourselves in the best possible position to achieve PL survival and had a real chance to crack on and possibly compete to win the FA cup (which with a bit of luck I think we could have been in with a shout of doing), but we've just flushed that down the toilet.

I think a few people are going over the top here.
It was a rank bad performance today from back to front, and we were fairly beaten by a team who were better than us and more determined than us on the day.
It hurts at the moment because it's not nice seeing your team play as badly as that, and being dumped out by a team that on paper is miles away from you.
But we'll get over it. We're on course to maintain our top flight status for another year and the club is in very rude health.
We just happened to be on the wrong end of one of football's long list of upsets today.

We play through our full backs. Neither of todays are good enough, far from it. I hope the players accept responsibility and donate wages to a local charity.

With:
Heaton
Lowton Mee Keane Ward
Brady Barton Westward Boyd
Gray Barnes
we stand a good chance of getting something out of the Hull game.
Then with Hendrick back we can concentrate on getting some points away from home.

Perhaps this was payback for 1987, when Burnley survived with a narrow win over Leyton Orient and Lincoln became the first club to be relegated from the Football League to the Conference, having been above us in the table before kick off.
An awful game to watch but even worse to witness the misplaced passes, lack of control from many of our players both with the ball and without it. The antics of Joey Barton were a throwback to times before he joined Burnley.
Some posters are blaming lack of preparation for our defeat but according to reports Sean Dyche was at Lincoln last Saturday. Perhaps he was shopping with the wife.
Posters are often complaining at our positioning and coverage on Match Of The Day.
Tonight I suspect that we will be the first game up.

The ghost of Wimbledon in 1975 - it felt so good to be the only top flight team to lose at home to non-league, so we decided to do it twice.
That, and karma from 1987, as said above we got away with one and the police dog relegated Lincoln and saved Torquay (if I recall).
Dyche makes it abundantly clear he doesn't want us to be in the Cup, going as far as saying so without being put on a charge from the FA. How many cup games have we won under him now?
So given all the above a shock was on the cards and the players didn't have the mentality to rise above all that noise and get the win that i am sure they wanted as professionals. It was a total embarrassment, by Dyche and the players, and I think it's a pathetic attitude, as it was at Accy, but they have a chance to make up for it next week - and they must, or the rot can set in. You can still have a great season while doing embarrassing things, we shouldn't overthink it (as long as we bounce back), but we shouldn't let them off the hook for it either.

I was thinking back to the Orient game as well. It could so easily been us that dropped, and Lincoln stayed up. I was an agent for the club, collecting "Clarets Revival" lottery money and I'd pay in the money each Friday before the draw at the weekend. The staff had all been given their statutory months notice should we drop. We would have been shut down. End of. Full stop. No more BFC.
Im sure if you asked any Lincoln today, would they have their moment of "Giant" killing glory OR be 12th in the Prem? Especially after our paths ran so close back in 1987. They'd rather be in our shoes..........

There were no left-footed left-sided players in the team today.
Surely that's why play from the left was inside to the right foot and then either sideways, backwards or both.
Did Lincoln notice this after the first half, as at the second half kick-off, they positioned all their players in their right side of the pitch.?
Surely they had sussed out J Flanagan who, in my opinion will not get another game start this season.
He and Darikwa should only be contesting a RB place but Lowton on current form deserves it.
Vokes was in the pocket of Raggett, certainly in the first half, he never won a header.
I could go on with the other team individuals but it is probably best to agree that this was a really poor performance lacking apparent desire.
I thought witnessing Burnley losing to Wimbledon 0-1 in 1975 was my lowest FA Cup memory but this has surpassed that.

Stay up or win the cup and get relegated? I'll take staying up. Personally, whilst it still rankles that we were so bad, I think this may be a blessing in disguise. The players will reflect on this and take on board that even our home form isn't guaranteed and I'm sure non of them will want to perform this bad again.

Darickwa, is superb going forward, pacey good feet. But today he was reluctant to press on, it was only late second half when.he showed us what he can do, cup ties are all about gambling.pushing forward winning a one off game ,was dissapointed with his performance

We were poor today, but the biggest embarrassment has been the arrogance of our so called "supporters" prior & post match. I'm fed up of hearing "take us to the next level". The "level" we're at is as good as it gets for a club like Burnley in modern football. ENJOY IT!! A bloke walking off shouted "Vokes you're ****" when he came over to applaud our "support".... now that is a "total embarrassment"

Some nutter having a go at Tarks. Why? He was our best player by a very long way.
With hindsight this game turned on 2 key issues. JBG going off and Ward not replacing the hopeless JF at half time.
We were crap, but take nothing away from Lincoln - the were magnificant. This is there day and as someone said we have to take it on the chin.
Next Saturday is now or biggest game of the season, which we must not lose.
By the way was Westwood playing today?

Come on Arfield has been awful for quite a while now.
