Cricket Field Stand
What a fantastic stand this is, the noise it generates is at times astonishing.
IF we stay in the Premier League would it be worth investing some of the money in segregating the outside of the ground to make the CFS into a complete Home stand. And perhaps move away fans to the Jimmy Mc lower. It cannot be that hard.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
Would be difficult to segregate away fans in the Jimmy MaC lower regarding safety getting them in and out of the ground.
There could also be safety problems by having home fans in the area above them.

When you come out of grounds like Old Trafford and The Emirates you meet the home fans straight away.
How do they cope on a much bigger scale?

Above from next to what's the difference?. And we wouldn't be the first ground to do it btw. St James Park as away fans above home fans.DAVETHEVICAR wrote:Would be difficult to segregate away fans in the Jimmy MaC lower regarding safety getting them in and out of the ground.

And segregation is exagerrated I walked up to within about 50 yards of the turnstiles with Lincoln fans yesterday.surely organising the street between the Clarets store and the turnstiles isn't that hard or expensive to a club with millions in the bank. The only segregation method we use at the moment is somebody else's bus.

I see where you are coming from I think the close proximity adds to the atmosphere. People don't really want to be treat like cattle. I guess it would make the stewards jobs even easier especially when rowdy fans are massed unfamiliar with the ground layout.RocketLawnChair wrote:Above from next to what's the difference?. Perhaps it can be done but at the moment fans in both tiers of the Jimmy MaC depart from behind the Stand.
It is where the away fans buses would be that may be a problem

I'm not sure if you've been Wolverhampton Wanderers DAVETHEVICAR, on the two occasions I've been our coach as parked about 1/2 mile from the ground same at Pride Park. I think because at Turf Moor we park the coaches about 1cm from each other and about 10 yards from the turnstiles we see at is some nessecary barrrier. It simply isn't it's just a over zealous security measure.
And half of the time the away coach pulls up they all get off and walk onto Belvedere Road and down to the Cricket Club!

Been Wolves and walking back to coach has been awkward with the Wolves fans who are idiots taunting our fans
Never any problems with fans mixing before games(away fans use Park View chippy)
It is after games where occasionally trouble could appear

Re: Cricket Field Stand
I don't see any reason why away fans can't have the cfs end of the longside and gain entry via the cricket ground as they do now. Straight line from pitch to back, both levels with moveable barriers giving their area more or less width as required.
Better facilities so less bitching about Turf moor and four thousand Clarets making a proper din, right in their faces.
Knock on effect of getting more atmosphere in the longside. Proper Fortress Turf.

Id go as far as the away coaches coming down the cricket lane and having coach park behind the jnl. Put a fence across from the jh to the sports hall thing. All home fan enter the cricket via harry potts way.Holtyclaret wrote:I don't see any reason why away fans can't have the cfs end of the longside and gain entry via the cricket ground as they do now. I'm convinced it is the way forward. It'd produce an atmosphere akin to the old longside days, as safely as can be managed and the modern facilities so much better and what is expected for visiting fans.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
If we're going to give Burnley fans the full cricket field then away fans have to go in JML, no other alternative as new Premier League Rules coming in state all away fans must be situated behind one of the goals.

I thought the new rule was pitch side. i.e in a tier level with the pitch anywhere in the ground.claretburns wrote:If we're going to give Burnley fans the full cricket field then away fans have to go in JML, no other alternative as new Premier League Rules coming in state all away fans must be situated behind one of the goals.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
Interesting debate, away fans only in the CF an advantage noise wise but accommodation of away fans elsewhere not so easy.
Tricky, hopefully to be sorted for the start of next season.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
I think giving away fans a bit of the Longside is a great idea. My worry with giving them half the Jimmy Mac Stand is that the role of the Cricket Field would be immediately downgraded, without any away fans to taunt.
Also, as someone said earlier, it'd get the Longside going again too.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
We'd have a thin wedge of them trapped between the baying cfs and the rest of the longside. Also gets jmc involved as closer to them too. Never going to happen but would make most of home advantage and give away fans better facilities and club scope to renovate cfs for its own fans.

I think the set up is fine now. Not every person who goes in at the moment is a singer so giving us the full stand would just dilute it more.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
At all the new grounds such as Leicester you are immediately in the mix with home supporters as soon as you leave the ground. There is no segregation of fans until you are pass the turnstiles. Generally just a copper or 2 and a few stewards to prevent things getting too rowdy. As has been said earlier in the thread fans of the away team are at the Park View chippy and the shop across the road, mingling safely and without hassle before the game.
Whilst we may have some history of crowd problems (as do most clubs) there hasn't really been anything of much note for a long time and I think Lancashire Police take preventative measures at Turf Moor than are way above and beyond what is justifiable on recent events, or lack thereof.
I would have no issue giving them the whole of the JML lower tier, park their coaches behind the JM and into the corner. It is done like that all over the place.

For now we should just switch sides with the away fans. I.e. still split if but with burnley getting the majority.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
All I can say is that thank god that we have Mr Baldwin, who seems to be quite progressive in his thinking and open minded.
It's an attitude that seems to be prevalent in 50+ males that there's too much effort to think of ways to make things better, have closed attitudes to change, it's worked for years, real stuck in the mud behaviours: an absolute nightmare to deal with at work when you're trying to improve a process - real jobsworths.
Never mind the match day crowd and the experience, how will it affect me? Is what I hear when I hear the usual H&S grumblings.
As has been pointed out, grounds all over the country with double, triple and even almost quadruple our capacity have found ways to accommodate fans in between home fans, underneath home fans, on top of fans and various other considerations so I'm not having some sniffy bloke in a flat cap vetoing it because he's got arthritis and has to walk another 200m.

I'm pretty sure our allocation to away fans cannot be reduced from it's current level. I think it has to be a minimum of 2500 or 10% whichever is lower.cricketfieldclarets wrote:For now we should just switch sides with the away fans. I.e. still split if but with burnley getting the majority.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
Well they get around 2,400 now which is more than 10% of the ground ( even if we are going off the older, higher figure of 22,400ish )bfcmik wrote:I'm pretty sure our allocation to away fans cannot be reduced from it's current level. I think it has to be a minimum of 2500 or 10% whichever is lower.

Have a dreamed it or did I read someone say the club are looking into a 50/50 split in the away end?
This was months ago and I might just have imagined it.

Re: Cricket Field Stand
Would it be worth one of the fans groups approaching the club and Mr Baldwin to ask them to ballot/petition the fans that may be effected by such a change. It would effect the ticket holders in the CFS and the Ticket Holders in the stand which is deemed most suitable for away supporters.
If the supporters want it and it is affordable in terms of segregation and construction and workable in terms of security and H&S then their is no reason why it shouldn't happen.

give away fans bottom half of longside. atmosphere would also improve for our fans in the longside also we get to raise the whole roof of the cricket.

I agree. The CFS would become the noisiest end in the country immediately. I sit/stand in there and being in there as someone who really likes an atmosphere.Burnley loyal wrote:give away fans bottom half of longside. atmosphere would also improve for our fans in the longside also we get to raise the whole roof of the cricket.

It's improved the match day experience and enhanced the reputation or how hard it is for away teams to come here no end.
