TV shows you inexplicably watch?
For me it's Channel 4 News, I dunno why on earth I watch it as it's basically KGM reading The Guardian out loud but it's a long held habit
University Challenge .I get about 3 right on a good night but the sound of Paxo belabouring those clever yet awkward students brings a post tea catharsis and leaves me so relaxed I could have surgery without anathestetic

The Championship on channel 5. Not sure why, perhaps just to see how the other half live.

Storage wars and American pickers.
I know Storage Wars is all staged etc, but its still amusing.
American pickers - something else I suspect is also staged to a degree, but its easy watching.
Pawn Stars - the main people are only at the shop now for recording, they hardly work there the rest of the time.
Its easy watching again though if its on.
I also still like to watch Friends if its on and I just want to veg out in front of the tv.

Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA...truly don't know why I always watch it if I happen to randomly see it on the Guide. Every episode is the same....arrive at run-down restaurant in hicksville, sample food, pretend to gag, meet delusional proprietors with family conflict and anger-management issues, inspect kitchen, shut restaurant down on hygiene grounds, refurb, reopen offering shorter menu with "fresh local produce", save restaurant, return a year later to find previous habits reinstated and downhill path resumed.
Can't stand bloody Ramsay either !

Tipping Point - I always liked watching this slot at the seaside . Didn't put much in but always watched for the accidental drop which could yield a few pence extra spends.

And strange programmes that come on after something i intentionally watched. Ten minutes in I wonder what on earth am I doing watching this. Pawn stars, hoarders, storage wars, Jeremy kyle.
Re: TV shows you inexplicably watch?
When I was a kid, so 20 years ago, My elders used to joke that one day we would end up watching people watching telly.
Gogglebox...Why I still put myself through it even though they are exaggerating their feelings and shouting at the TV because there's a camera on them, I don't know. it's inexplicable.

Re: TV shows you inexplicably watch?
Anything that Mrs Engineer happens to be watching. I'm nearly always caught monging at something, usually half way out the front room stood in the door way.
Call the Midwife, Casualty, obscure European drama's, X Factor - all programmes that I don't particularly want to watch I end up gripped by.
Its an ''in joke'' now which she calls ''not watching TV together''

Not in the spirit of the thread I know but.... TV programmes I will not watch.
Eastenders - a lifetime's misery packed into 30 minutes
Jeremy Kyle - Different chavs - same mess
X Factor, The Voice, Let it Shine, BGT - Not even good enough for karaoke
Loose Women - Scene from Macbeth every lunchtime
Anything involving Paul McCartney

Michael Portillo on great railways.
A well dressed clown who visits some fabulous places. Great wind down after a days work, would much prefer it was presented by someone else tho. Say Keith Lemon?

I never miss the repeats of Top of the Pops on BBC4!
They have reached 1983 now, just my era, I turned 16 that year!
Bowie's Lets Dance is just about to be replaced at number one by True. Love it!
And best of all, it annoys the kids

I also used to like Swiss Railway Journeys. I used to tape them (showing how long ago it was), and then put them on in the morning to stun my ex's daughter into being a rational human being before school. It worked a treat. Anybody with an AD/HD child out there - try it.

Over here, we have Turner Classic Movies. Love watching movies that actually have a plot, other than just blowing things up or trying to outdo the profanity index.

Last night TCM showed "Cleopatra", all 4+ hours of it. And then it ended not with a bang, but a whimper. My favourites are still the old "Thin Man" movies. You just can't beat William Powell and Myrna Loy.

I'm glued to the 'Salvage Hunter's programme. Just interesting stuff.
Can't do without watching the 'The Chase' on the +1 hour when I get back from work. The presenter is a bit of an arse but the 'Chasers' are clever as.
Australian Masterchef. Every episode of every series from the outset.
