I Always look forward to some great racing at Cheltenham, but my bank balance doesn't seem to like it..Its a shame there are so many good horses injured for the festival, but I'm sure it won't detract from the great racing there will be..

I normally put the big favs in doubles/trebles etc

To make enough money to cover the other races but that could be hard this year.

I reckon the bookies will be full of offers to entice punters to play.

Sky bet £20 refund if you back a loser in the first race every day is a great offer.
Gives you four chances instead of one

Odd one really that Joe Tizzard has said he feels the winner will be Cue Card after watching them both in training last week.

Personally think Djakadam will win. Hoping so anyway the amount of money I have lost on it. Surely it will come good soon ha ha

I am currently working through the none handicaps
bets so far
SUPREME NOVICE HURDLE
BUNK OFF EARLY....been really impressed how this one has travelled in his races and the fast pace should play to this ones strengths as he has been keen in his races.....for those that have a betfair account I would be tempted to take the cvurrent 9.6 and lay the horse in running due to how well he travels.

CHAMPION HURDLE
this is full of horses who ideally want some cut....I am taking a chance on SUPERB STORY...taken 25/1 each way.

NEPTUNE...MESSIRE DES OBEAUX each way

RSA...ROYAL VACATION...EW.

RYANAIR...today taken 6/1 each way for EMPIRE OF DIRT....think he will be a lot shorter on the day and barring accidents should go close....strong each way bet at the current 6/1.

3 at wolves tomorrow
2 10 major valentine
2 40 fleckerl
4 40 siouxperhero

utc.

Thanks Happy- £2 ew patent at Wolves paid me £78 to a £28 stake.Put the profit on a double of the favs in the last two today and pulled a £150 war chest for Cheltenham

Just hope I can place my bets for Cheltenham whilst I'm out of the country - some bookies don't allow it

cheers Row Z...didnt realise they had pulled him out....I rarely bet ante post for that reason....I will be reviewing the champion hurdle...a couple of springers in the market need checking out.
glad they did you some good goobs/westyorkclaret....I had 2 notebook horses in fleckerls race....him and the winner....didnt like the jockey on the winner...dohhhhh.
not sure why fleckerl was dropped out so far from such a good draw...
tomoorow
220...midnight request....stable had 2 good winners from 2 today and this is a c and d winner....the other fav in the race is a fast ground sire so I think 3/1 is fair enough.
230 I have negatives for 3 fancied runners so laying all 3....guaranteed at least 2 winning bets...lol....when the market forms tomorrow it may be worth betting one of the other 2 at the head of the market...
3 negatives...brideys lettuce....trainer jockey combo only 1/32
sattelac....sire 4 % track and kodiacs generally dont stay.
tasty ginger...sire 0/20 track
morrisons BRAHMA looks interesting having first handicap run....DEEP RESOLVE also needs watching in the market.

3 30....not sure at all that AMONG ANGELS will stay this trip but is drawn in the 6 box....the last 29 races at 6 furlongs or more at southwell with 8 or more runners....the 6 box has yielded 11 wins....prices at sp...9/4...4/6...9/4...11/2...8/1...6/1...7/4...9/1...2/1...9/1...7/1.
among angels won from a poor draw wide over 7 furlongs last time out....today from the golden box could go well for a long way....14/1 on betfair is a bet for me....and try and lay some off around 3 or 4/1 in running.
another interesting one in the race is VIVAT REX...was in a claimer last time and was wrong at the weights...travelled nicely despite being on the slow rail...around 25/1 makes each way appeal in the 1234 market.

340 CARALINE is arond 7/4 at the moment...trainer is out of form...only 1 win from his last 52....laid that one.

wouldnt put anyone off bunk off early and empire of dirt...each way double....but get that 6/1 for empire of dirt...the other 2 favs in that race have strong negatives....I think empire of dirt will be no bigger than 7/2.

forgot one
in the 2 00 tomorrow....RED STRIPES...around 12 or 14/1...nicely drawn and is closely matched at the weights with the fav CROSSE FIRE....but on that day RED STRIPES drifted across to the far rail... ( both rails at southwell are slow )....he should stay on the faster strip down the centre tomorrow and he has good speed to get out of the gates and out of the kick back....each way in the 1234 market for me.

I know this is a Cheltenham thread, but around 10 days ago when the Grand National weights came out I backed Definitely Red @ 28/1. His performance on Saturday was outstanding and as the saying goes, come race time @5:15 on April the 8th he will IMO be considered"well in"

Backed Yorkhill for the JLT got 7/2 3/1 all the way down to current price, few dodgy moments with rumours about being supplemented for Champion Hurdle after the withdrawls but happy staying in the JLT. Also done doubles with Altior at 11/10 which looks huge now considering current price is 1/4 with the second fav for that race being Yorkhill.

Also done an antepost lucky 15 (NRNB)

Cantlow - Cross Coutry
UknowhatImeanHarry - Stayers Hurdle
Defi Du Seuil - Triumph Hurdle
Neon Wolf - Neptune

well the racing is pants today
not done tonights racing yet...if there is a bet or 2 I will post later.
draw bias at lingfield right now is not of much help as stalls 1 to 9 are best
kempton is a bit more helpful with 1 to 7 dominating.
just one note book horse this afternoon I have backed...
4 30 Ling ROSEALEE...currently around the 6/1 mark.

check out 888
https://www.888sport.com/online-sports- ... romotions/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
new members can have a tenner double at 16/1 on a couple of 1/3 shots at cheltenham
unfortunately I cannot take advantage as already have an account but I think they are now top price on EMPIRE OF DIRT @ 5/1
so the ew double with BUNK OFF EARLY in the supreme is looking good with them....utc.

Tomoorow my favourite track Southwell
2 10...PADLEYOUR OWNCANOE...ew bet
3 20 MACO MAC bet
laying BOUNTY PURSUIT.
3 55 SIR BILLY WRIGHT (NAP)
4 SO laying WOIISYOUR MATE.
watch the market on betfair....HE'S A LAD or STRAGAR look the 2 best drawn horses but STRAGAR is unraced so watch the market.
5 05 the fav here PICK OF ANY would usually be a cast iron lay for me being drawn 1 but I do think he could be ahead of his mark
he will need to be to win from there.
AUTUMN TONIC each way looks good.

should be enough there for a lucky 15

just finished watching barcelona...notice that someone laid them to qualify at 350/1....OUCH.....utc.

Glad you got the prices mrg...they wewre roughly what I got....all 3 winners well backed as you would expect for southwell....important to take the early price...guaranteed.
really poor stuff tomorrow whatnopies...but 3 of interest...albeit shorter odds than I would usually post.
2 10...McCain has the favourite CULMINATION but he is sired by beat hollow....they usually like decent ground....also McCain in the last 2 years has had only 1 winner from 31 at Ayr.
the only real obvious danger is OUR VALENTINA...SHOULD BE AROUND 5/2 so that would be the bet.
2 more of interest.
BRIAN HUGHES has ridden 13 times for Alexander in the last 2 years....had 7 winners and 3 placed.
he rides 2 for him tomorrow.
4 30 MARLEE MASSIE
5 00 GOLD OPERA
so that's the 3 to play with...if anything else crops up I will update tomorrow....utc.

It's matched betting taking advantage of the bookies offers of free bets.

Basically if you stick the free £50 on something in a two outcome match i.e tennis then back the other with your own money.

Google it if you want more in depth info.

Today
1 30...ARCHIE STEVENS ew bet
this race is full of horses who ideally need further...this one is well drawn and can race prominently so provided the jockey ( not the greatest ) can get him out of the gates well he should be in the prime spot to run a big race from a good draw...its all about the start....7/1

1 55...I have laid...lachares....ran in a really poor race last time....the odds on fav should take this as nothing else seems fancied.

2 40....GILGAMESH 6/4...win bet...sired by foxwedge who is brilliant at wolves...well drawn and a course and distance winner this big horse
I was concerned about the 2nd fav tafaakhor with ryan moore booked but his record for yard in hcaps aint the greatest...winning just 1 from his last 14 rides.

2 50 GARDINERS HILL...7/2...bet...travels well this horse and won on both occasions when coming to hereford...big plus with Johnson riding who should be able to switch him off and deliver him late....the sire STOWAWAY is an out and out mudlark so conditions ideal....last run was a quick reappearance and I think the 4 week break will have freshened him up.

3 00 NOT ANOTHER MUDDLE...ew bet 7/1...made my notebook last time....travelled well and keen...given a tender ride....stable LOVES sandown and lays out horses to peak here...got no weight...expecting a big run.

3 35 MOLLY CHILDERS 25/1...small ew bet in the 1234 market on betfair...cannot let this run loose today...another STOWAWAY who threw the race away last time and today they try cheek pieces 1st time....hot race but smasll stak4es could win big.

5 35 I have laid Indian Harbour at 2/1...sires runners in bumpers 0/54...enough said...likely winner probably rooster spirit or calix delafayette....

8 15 MUSIC MAJOR 8/1...won from poor draw last time out over same distance at lingfield and not gone up much for that.

glad the racing is crap today...gives me time to look ahead at cheltenham...just a couple of bets...both around 7 or 8/1
3 55 warwick...CARLI KING....won this race easily 2 years ago off a 2lb lower mark...Caroline Baileys yard is red hot right now...think this has probably been laid out for this race.

4 50 Naas...SPACE CADET....this race has been dominated by horses carrying under 11 stone....all winners bar 1 were 7 to 9 year old and all bar 1 were 10/1 or less in the betting....potentially leaves 2 horses to look at...the bet and vent de la cote...got to be doubts whether the 2nd one will stay so space cadet the bet.

apparently Cheltenham have not had much rain...if any of you live local to track or anyone has any weather updates please feel free to chip in....utc.

Been given Indian Stream in the Mares Hurdle. E/W obviously as it looks like it''s Limini''s to lose.

today
2 bets and 4 lays
2 10...ZEEHAN...LAY 11/4 ...POOR SIRE.
2 50 WHAT LARKS...EW BET 9/1...made my notebook ages ago on this course and clearly likes the place...well handicapped on that form and should relish conditions.
5 00....SWINCOMBE SCORCHIO...BET 3/1...if the last run can be believed then this has been given a very good chance from the handicapper.
7 20...FINAL...LAY 2/1...had the run of the race last time and perhaps fortunate to win as there was trouble in running behind...up 4 lbs and 2 or 3 strong dangers in this.
8 20...MENELIK...LAY...100/30...drawn 11 of 11 is a big problem on this track right now as stalls 1 to 7 strongly favoured.

hopefully post tomorrows action later tonight and may update tomorrow....ground conditions as ever will be crucial...the first day usually has the best ground...then the clerk of the course gets the watering can out....utc.
