Santa Claus: The Movie in 1985 at Studios 123 on the Market Square. My dad took me and my brother.
The first one I watched on my own/with mates, I think, was Flight of The Navigator the following year but I seem to remember wanting to watch a Crocodile Dundee but I was too young. I hope my memory is correct.

I seriously think that it's impossible to recall which film was the first you saw in a cinema. It could have been any number of titles. Probably a cartoon but which one? At what age could you have been trusted to sit and watch without scampering off somewhere. There used to be a cinema at Piccadilly Circus that showed nothing but cartoons. Looney Tunes, etc. It must have been there.

Re: What's the first film you remember seeing at the Cinema?
the first film i remember was at the empire in Burnley was in about 1965 and the film was Bambi ( I did see someone else say Bambi earlier) it was with my Mum as it was too upsetting for my dad to go too. He then inflicted one of the worse crimes known to man kind he took me to Turf moor to watch a football team called Burnley. That kind of child cruelty would be un acceptable now. But back then children did not have a choice, and I can only say that I suffer daily from this one moment in my life that has stayed with me suffering such hardship of the highs and too often lows of attending this place of torture. I know look forward to torture as a release from life. But in the last few years no real pain. Is that just because I have seen so much **** in life or that you just get used to crap and think its improving

Unless you just know, and your parents have conformed?
We didn't exactly have many options in the 80's and 90's in Burnley. Studios 123, Unit 4 over at Brierfield and, if you were really brave, Nelson. I watched Back to the Future 2 at Nelson.

The Sting at Burnley Odeon the night my Auntie died, I was taken by my eldest Brother to get me out of the way, didn't understand the film but thought it was great
This is after the earlier movies at Nelson Grand (Matinee) which I have only vague recollection of these days and couldn't name a single film I saw back then

Reach for the Sky
Kenneth More as Douglas Bader.
Not at the cinema - but while in hospital with a seriously gammy leg.
Bader ended up with no legs of course.

Was either Zulu at the Empire or Born Free at the Odeon, can't quite remember which way round it was. Possibly Zulu first.
Re: What's the first film you remember seeing at the Cinema?
First film I can remember was Ring Of Bright Water - still remember bawling my eyes out - even my mum, who was a tough woman said she had shed a tear.

Don't think it was the first film I saw at the cinema, but the first one I remember (I think) is Jurassic Park at the Odeon in Bradford.

My Dad took me to see The Paleface starring Bob Hope and Jane Russell, I think it would have been around 1949 when I was 5 years old. I remember he had to bring me out as I was screaming the place down as I thought it was all real.
It was at the Roxy in Burnley, long since gone.

The Longest Day or Zulu whichever came out first.
Re: What's the first film you remember seeing at the Cinema?
Thunderbirds Are Go at Burnley Odeon, mid-60's. I was a bit too young to appreciate a full feature film and struggled with the plot.

I must have been to earlier films, but the earliest I can remember was the last at The Royal Ramsbottom. A Saturday afternoon in 1968, Batman with Adam West & Burt Ward, followed by The Plank with Eric Sykes & Tommy Cooper.

Re: What's the first film you remember seeing at the Cinema?
The Longest Day back in November 1963.
The reason I remember when I saw it was that I had just watched the film and when I came out of the cinema the flag at the Conservative Club next door to the cinema was at half mast.
When I asked someone why that was they said that President Kennedy had been assasinated.

Re: What's the first film you remember seeing at the Cinema?
Used to go Odeon in late 60s early 70s for matinees with my older sister - got told off for sliding down the light pole next to the culvert bridge, Flash Gordon and the like. First Film would have been as a family at Studio Market cinemas Burnley, a James Bond Film, Live and Let Die in 73 ish - birthday present.
