On the real point of this thread, I would say, without doubt, Jimmy Anderson, followed by two Walters: Wandering Walter, a local comedian, who played all the local men's clubs and docker picker Walt, an old tramp, who used hang around the center picking up fag end and smoking them on the streets. Perhaps in fourth place, my uncle Johnny Guitar, who used sing in all the town center pubs to earn a living.

Bobby Elliott, Hollies drummer, lived in Pike Hill, attended NGS, lives in Colne. Arguably (I'd argue) the best drummer from the Sixties Beat boom. The Hollies still touring, have done every year since 1963.

He passed away a few years ago from what I heard - I always remember him sitting on the wall on Hufling Lane up Burnley Wood and shouting at us for playing football anywhere within a 3 mile radius of him
