The 'I was there' thread

Post by Darthlaw » Sun Apr 02, 2017 6:10 am

Akin to the moon landings or JFK assassination, Burnley have their own 'I was there or I remember where I was when' moments such as Ian Britons header hitting the back of the net against Orient or being able to say you actually saw Graham Alexander miss a penalty in 2010.

I added a new one yesterday. I was there when George Boyd won a header in the opposition penalty area. I'll never forget it.

What 'I was there moments' can other posters claim?

I was there when the plane went over Turf Moor in the play off game against Torquay in 1991.

I was there when the fans turned their backs in the 3.33 protest against Crewe in 1996.

I was there when Paul Barnes scored 5 in a game vs Stockport in 1996 - and was not happy that he was subbed, I wanted him to go for the record.

Very close to scoring with a header in the same fixture two years ago

I was there when I saw a dog taking the split second decision to run onto the pitch. Stands out above all other memories.

On the flip side, I wasn't there for;

Barnes 5 goals
Glen's solo goal against Bristol Rovers
Alexander's penalty miss

All day I have been trying to think of something important happening where I can say "I was there"... The event having to be something spontaneous, or understated at the time, rather than a pre planned event.

Absolutely nothing. I need to get out more. :(
