Betting really is a mugs game.

Post by Rightfoot » Mon Apr 17, 2017 4:46 pm

I haven't won a bet all season, Doncaster look to be the latest team to let my acca down at home to Blackpool. :(

Stopped betting on who wins and decided to do both teams to score or over 3 goals. Results are much better now.

I heard about three different betting tales of woe in the barbers on Saturday, I think the reason I don't partake is because it'd get me too down.

As a general rule, I only bet if I disagree with the odds, or if it's a result I don't want to happen (win-win then).

The amount I have lost if i knew would scare me. I only bet what I can afford to lose and the thrill of winning is unbeatable. But I really should find something else to lose my money on.

That and watching Burnley away must cost me a holiday to Mauritius a year!

I don't chase huge money, I just like the win and to make my cash last as long as possible.

Each weekend I make a couple accas all from likely fixtures with odds under evens (3/4, 8/11), a few of those and you can make yourself something from 5/1 to 15/1.
Looking to Arsenal tonight for another winner.

The bookies love punters who bet on accumulators, especially ones who stack up short priced favourites.

I did okay today on Bristol City to win or draw, and was looking at Midds v Arse 'over 2.5 goals this evening but it was 6:10. So I've gone on 'under 2.5' as the value is there if Boro do their normal thing.
I think Unders/Overs or handicap betting is the way to play as you'll end up between 10% down and 10% up.
And Burnley to win with +1.50 start against a top six side usually wins well :)

I've just looked at my betvictor and I've bet just over 300 this season and had over 550 returns so not too bad. I usually do 4 to 5 folds with a 5 pound stake. Just don't go putting silly bets on when you have lost and stick to a game plan. I would say I've been in profit most seasons, if I wasn't I would just give it up.

That's what generally happens with accumulators. Do you not use one of the many betting companies who offer money back if one result lets you down?

I've only placed about 4 bets in my (fairly long) life. I've seen the problems it can cause, I'd like to see it banned.

I think it's wise not to bet on a regular basis.
I tend to back first scorers, usually for BFC, and sometimes bet against the Clarets purely on a win-win basis. If we lose at least there's some compo however derisory.

That's dirty money Eddie - the only uncalculated bets I make are against Rovers - and that often works and it's a huge WIN-WIN

I did a midweek "Both teams to score" a few weeks back. 7 games, 14 teams to score. The only team to let me down for £492 from a tenner were Barcelona away at PSG!
They then went on to score 21 goals in their next 5 games, including 6 in the return leg against PSG.
Unbelievable Jeff!

Dont mention this to Tim Noone.

Or Juventus, Brazil Germany, France, Man Utd or any other good team he bets on.

Or Luca Toni :D :D :D

There are hundreds of thousand near miss stories Chipbutty, and that's why the bookies are still open.

I had one about 20 years ago when I was doing a fixed odds acca.I was meant to choose Rochdale winning at home but when I got to the pub I realised that I'd chosen Northampton to win at home with the other four teams I had gone for.

It was only forty odd quid that I won, but it was the best forty odd quid that I've ever won. Rochdale lost.

I'm pretty sure WH do a money back if one team of your 5 team+ acca loses. Each selection will be subject to minimum odds terms, not sure what they are for WH.

Another that does matched betting here. £400 up since mid-March when I started. Useless at normal gambling so this is a very nice substitute.

I did loads of matched betting on bookies free bets and sign up offers, but it doesnt take them long to restrict your accounts to pennies. Im a bit sick about being gubbed by B365 as their £50 in play free bets are well worth taking advantage of.

Not sure, it may be online only but surely it's worth switching if you keep losing by 1 selection.

A quick search on their site will confirm but think WH is money back on 5+ selections in shop, minimum odds 1/5 if I remember rightly.

I used to use willy hills app but the cash out option is poor. If one of ur teams is 3 up the whole bet suspends stoppin u cashin out. B365 much slicker

How odd. I was abut to come on here and suggest the same!

Got to be goals in both games as both could do with away goals to help swing the tie... Surely?!

As near a dead cert as possible to get but you'd still have doubts, probably, at putting £700 on to win just £100. Well, I would.

In response to thread title it can be. I set myself limits do long shot accumulators life changing bets if successful then short favourite selections usually homes to recover the overall stake. Basically free punts providing the short favourites do the job. Don't own a yacht on the med yet but you never know.
