Always had a smile on his face and was having a laugh no matter when I saw him.
Hope you find solace in remembering all the good times and find peace in your own ways to deal with your loss.
RIP Leeds Paul - Top lad.

Hopefully Clansman does not mind, we are also designing one. Paul loved football fandom- flags and chanting.

Re: Paul McNeil RIP
Nick I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. I can't comprehend what you must be going through. I was told the shocking sad news by my eldest on Sunday evening. A horrible tearful conversation.
I knew Paul mainly through my son's. I spent many an away day in his company and an unbelievable trip to Benidorm on a stag-do. The word character doesn't come close. But that doesn't define him. He was a proper good lad.
Another of my son's was at Leeds uni and Paul took him under his wing on a number of occasions. Infact he has designed a flag in his honour if you don't mind ?
In our thoughts the Bramwell family.
RIP Leeds Paul.

Yes was going to say that. He used to love the flags and terrace culture generally so thought it was the best tribute I could think of.Loyalclaret wrote:Hopefully Clansman does not mind, we are also designing one. Paul loved football fandom- flags and chanting.

Terrible news. RIP Paul. My method of coping is to write stuff down, memories etc. Then savour them and add to them whenever takes your fancy. Read em and smile whenever you can. Take care, time does heal.

Sorry to hear this about a fellow Claret and family. Treasure the memories of happier times and he will be with you in spirit
Re: Paul McNeil RIP
Just a short note to thank the very many people who through this forum and other platforms/ means have offered their condolences and thoughts about Paul. He would be grateful for the support as he valued loyalty and loved his friends. I will go to the Man Utd match as my tribute to what he and I both loved.
Thanks again everyone.

Sounds like a right character, who left good impressions on those he met. Can't ask for much more than that in life.

Re: Paul McNeil RIP
Nick, in your own time of course, if you let me know how to send some recordings I have that Paul sent to me recently I would love to pass them to you.
They were Burnley songs which he had made up himself. Typical of Paul, they are funny, creative, witty and in some cases a little blue!
I have been unable to think of much over the last few days other than the sad news and the loss of a character that was truly loved in Burnley. Although he was from Wetherby, to me he epitomised everything about Burnley, Burnley FC and its supporters.
God bless you all.

Clansman and mdd2, I've been where you are and I feel your pain. My son, an only child, died of cancer at 18 and he too was a life long Claret fan. As mdd says, you don't get over it, you merely learn to live with the pain and you will find a way of dealing with your loss which might be unique to you, so don't worry what other people might think. Please consider mdd2s offer as no one really understands this as much as someone who has been there.
So sorry for your loss and my sincerest condolences.

Re: Paul McNeil RIP
I didn't know Paul but reading through some of the comments on here makes him sound like a bit of a character!! As a father of two myself I cannot imagine what you and your family must be going through at this time. All I can do is offer my sincerest condolences to you all Clansman.
Re: Paul McNeil RIP
Offering my deepest condolences at this devastating time. We have managed to get a shout out for Paul at this weekend's match for any of those who are attending.

Good effort Liz. Also arranged for the club to display a message and his image during the match.Lizzbenno wrote:Offering my deepest condolences at this devastating time. We have managed to get a shout out for Paul at this weekend's match for any of those who are attending.
I have asked some of his closest friends that I know to pick a message and a picture that is appropriate. There are a couple a few of us like but just want to make sure his family are OK with the picture and the message. x

Re: Paul McNeil RIP
Clansman, Here is one of the many Burnley chants he made up. We had planned to set up a youtube channel where he could record himself and give airtime to his chants. He was more passionate about Burnley than anyone I can think of. It was unfathomable that someone from Leeds way could love Burnley as much as he did.
If you don't mind I will put these recordings onto youtube in his honour. We had planned to do it one Friday when I was in Leeds but I ended up on the last train from Edinburgh and got to Leeds later than I had planned and we never did it
I hope we can all get this one started in his memory this weekend.
This was one of the more publishable I am afraid

Re: Paul McNeil RIP
Thanks again for all your regards. Unfortunately due to the circumstances there is a coronors inquest and due to pressures in Leeds this may not be quick. Until the coroner releases the body we can't even make plans for his funeral.
The family saw his body today. He looked peaceful and despite the pain we were glad to have said our goodbyes. His mother brother and sister are devastated as am I.
However the love for Paul has been overwhelming and again we all appreciate that.cricketfield I will be in touch mate and to those other fathers who have lost their sons and offered support I thank you sincerely.

Ah thats heart breaking and I expected it may be longer than normal.
If I can help in anyway just ask like the others who offered. Paul was very close with one of my best friends who passed 9 years ago. And if I can share anything that helped me I will. Im just imagining the two of them reunited.

My sister recently lost her boy (a twin) in his early 30's and I know what that has done to her, I can only imagine you are going through the same horrendous painful grief that a parent should never go through. Thoughts are with you and your family.

Hi
Paul's dad here. Today was wonderful . I had been dreading his funeral but is was fun and loving and respectful.
Thank you to all the burnley fans that came over to Leeds. You were brilliant and showed in many ways what this club is about. Loyalty, friendship , comradeship and honesty.
No doubt someone will post a picture of the flag
Flying from the peacock pub opposite Elland rd !!
His spirit is at rest and once again thanks for the love shown.

Given the send off he deserved and will be missed by a lot of people. When some of the best turn up to give you a send off you know you have made the right impression on others in life. He would of been in his element yesterday with his friends from Burnley & Tranmere having a gathering.

Nick-have only just read your post and feel so sad for you. Having two sons myself I can imagine what you have been through. You must cherish, as always with death in the family, those very special memories you know doubt have. You will always have that very special "connection" with your son- and that's Burnley FC. Best wishes
