Great guitar solos

Post by bobinho » Sat Apr 22, 2017 8:00 am

The prince thread got me thinking after watching the wee mans solo in "while my guitar gently weeps".

Be interesting to see and hear more of these, so I will share what I think is absolutely amazing guitar work.

This is tom morello of "rage against the machine" helping out the boss.

Enjoy the two solos.

Slash had some good ones during his time with Guns and Roses.

if you are on facebook, Bobinho, have a look at "guitar loves" page.
Some amazing guitarists out there, some as young as 14.

This is another live Mark Knopfler piece..just amazing to be honest..my favourite Dire Straits song, a thirteen minute version of Telegraph Road.

Mark Knopfler - 'Telegraph Road' (Sevilla 26.07.2015).

Went to see Joe Bonamassa last night at the Royal Albert Hall. Not seen many better guitarists than Joe. Take your pick of any you tube clips but this one is decent.

Cheers Bobinho for the OP..a fantastic version of one of Bruce's best songs, and with the inclusion of the 'guitar guest'....wow

I hope you don't mind but I have found a live performance of that same song, so you can properly see the lads at work...Miami Steve, Nils Lofgren, Bruce and the amazing Tom Morello.

Any Thin Lizzy solo is music to my ears! However, Slash, Sweet Child O' mine fits the song brilliantly.
Also honourable mention to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Free bird whoever the guitarist is!

Comfortably Numb was the 2nd track to come in to my head. The 1st was Paul Weller Whirlpools End. You could also add in there While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Just knew it would be Comfortably Numb. It's such a brilliant solo - not fast, not flashy but Gilmour makes that guitar sing.

Someone similar ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAqLJ1WTIvc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

First solo is at 2.17

then the second builds slowly from about 4 mins and explodes at 4.40.

It's probably not the best of his (try Chelsea Monday or Script or Cinderella search - or any number of others!) but I love Splintering Heart and it demonstrates how a solo can be a showpiece but intrinsically part of the wider tapestry of the song.

Here you are oldrod, just for you. It was a toss up between the album version
and a live version. Opted for the album version.

It doesn't matter, for all the wonderful music that has been posted on this thread, there's hardly a guitar solo among them.

Drums, piano and keyboards etc, have all helped the guitar in this thread.
