I can't believe it! :( I saw him in concert in last year and he was absolutely brilliant. Way too young to pass. He was exceptionally talented.

The night I saw him live was the day it was announced that Prince had died. Chris Cornell performed 'Nothing Compares to You' in tribute...

Rest in peace, Chris.

Incredibly sad news.

Got into Soundgarden because one of the songs was on GTA San Andreas as recall.

Let's post some of our favourite Chris Cornell, Audioslave, Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog songs! That'll cheer me up.

We have to start with Black Hole Sun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mbBbFH9fAg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And how about Rusty Cage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBZs_Py-1_0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And one of my personal favourites, Like a Stone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QU1nvuxaMA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

His 2015 solo album Higher Truth showed a different side to him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhJ9IwYc5NU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Shocked to hear this this morning. I was listening to Temple Of The Dog this weekend. Superunknown is still one of my favourite albums.

I've read a few sources that have said it's a 'suspected suicide'. That would make the whole thing even sadder.

I have only once seen a man armed with just an acoustic guitar hold an entire audience rapt for an hour and three quarters. That's how good he was. An exceptional talent; his 'Euphoria Morning' album the high point for me.

When I first heard of his death, the last thing I'd have said was suicide. He just had so much going for him and so much to live for. But I suppose that's the point really...if it was indeed suicide and depression was the cause, it just goes to show that it can effect anybody at any time. Fame and wealth just don't come into it. I hope he's at peace now.

Taking everything that you ever had

All wonderful songs. There's many more but those are my favourites.

Sadly, the medical examiner has confirmed that it was suicide by hanging.

I think this is a good time to remind people that if you are struggling with depression and feel you have problems that you can't bear, there are people that care and who you can talk to. I know some men feel too proud and that they feel they should bottle these things up but that's completely the wrong way. Talk to someone and get the help you need to get better. I wish Chris had done that but I'm very thankful for all the great music he's given us.
