Transport Manager CPC Course
Transport Manager CPC Course
Evening all. Totally off topic, but just wondering if anybody has done this, or knows anybody that has, and how difficult is it to pass? Thanks !

Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
Easy enough are you on about the international CPC? And not the truck driver ones.
Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
I haven't done it myself, but when our compliance levels dropped a few years ago a few people were 'volunteered' to do the course as nominated TM's. A large proportion failed, but it was probably as much to do with lack of background knowledge.

International and national are both together now. You can't do them separatelyCnBtruntru wrote:Easy enough are you on about the international CPC? And not the truck driver ones.
But yes the actual manager one as opposed to the 35 Hour training ones
Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
As long as you have a decent grasp of Road Haulage Operations and are prepared to revise thoroughly, you should be able to attain a pass.

Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
I did a ten day RHA course (over five weeks) and would thoroughly recommend that. Out of the fifteen or so on my course I was the only one that paid to do it myself.
The office types had major issues with driver hours and wtd and the drivers that had been put through by their companies tended to struggle with the costing/profit and loss account side of it. Thankfully I did two years on an accountancy degree when younger so found the costing side of it fairly easy.
I'm currently a car transporter driver, so haven't used the qualification yet.
Good luck with it

Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
I did it a few years ago and it is fairly straightforward once you learn the various measurements and limits. On the exam itself make sure you give enough time to each of the different modules. It is easy to spend too much time on the case study and then find you have failed one of the standard sections because you ran out of time.
I now work for 3 companies as an external TM which works well as long as you get on with the owner and his senior staff.

I did mine about 15 years ago. As long as you have a reasonable understanding of road haulage rules and regs and you prepare then it is not too difficult.
Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
I'm doing the 10 day RHA course at the moment Jude. Exam on 16th June !
Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
Mick - I'll take that on board. Thanks

I'm a TM and i did my Road Haulage CPC course in 2014.
I've put numerous colleagues through the course and preparation is key. I would advise that you visit the following website and start looking and the previous multi-choice test papers and case studies (try and complete as many as you can prior to going on the course) and this will put you in good place.
As other's have already commented, its a relatively straight forward course to pass providing that you put the hours of revision in.
Good luck mate

Re: Transport Manager CPC Course
Both the International and National CPC were together when I sat mine 23 years ago now, I believe only 3 of us passed out of 14, but there were a few HGV drivers including myself who thought it would be easy enough without a bit of study ( luckily I am not that naive) do as already suggested and study and practice and that will see you through no bother. Good luck.
