Rouwen Hennings
Rouwen Hennings
As we all know some players adapt to different leagues with this in mind would you keep him for next season? I personally think his game suits the PL good first touch, holds the ball up well and a good shot all traits you need in this league.

Re: Rouwen Hennings
I've not seen enough of him to make any kind of decision. And it's been too long since I saw him play to even remember.
Re: Rouwen Hennings
I like the lad. But trying hard to think what he can bring to us as a team if he doesn't bag many goals. Can't remember him really.
Re: Rouwen Hennings
Didn't get much of a chance but then we don't see him in training. Had a nice touch but I'm not sure he offers what we need at this level.

Re: Rouwen Hennings
He's under contract and Dusseldorf can't afford him, club said they expect him to come back although I think they will try to at least get him out on loan for the last year of his contract.CFS wrote:As we all know some players adapt to different leagues with this in mind would you keep him for next season? Always looked like he had something to me. Yet he never got a chance and we persisted in playing the non scoring and ineffective cart horse.

His biggest problem was making Boyd look quick.

No, we persisted in playing with the scoring and effective Gray and Vokes.Right_winger wrote:Always looked like he had something to me. Yet he never got a chance and we persisted in playing the non scoring and ineffective cart horse.
If you're referring to Juke, he did his cruciate shortly after Hennings joined us and never actually started a game ahead of him.

Re: Rouwen Hennings
Could well prove a massive hit for us next season
Or maybe I'm dreaming again
Or maybe I'm dreaming again
Re: Rouwen Hennings
He ain't good enough for us now - he was 4th choice striker for us in Championship.
If he was Premier League quality he would not have spent his career playing in second tier football.
He did have a decent touch now and again but in most of the games I saw him he was lacking in strength, height, speed and ability.
Would be very surprised if we saw him in a claret shirt again - unless Scunthorpe take a punt !

Re: Rouwen Hennings
Was a poor signing who we now just need to try and move on or loan out as best we can so he costs us as little money as possible going forward
Re: Rouwen Hennings
Was starting to come good in the Championship winning season but then for some reason Dyche's blue eyed boy Ashley Barnes jumped straight ahead of him in the pecking order and that was that.
Re: Rouwen Hennings
Just to clarify, it was a good decision then?jrgbfc wrote:Was starting to come good in the Championship winning season but then for some reason Dyche's blue eyed boy Ashley Barnes jumped straight ahead of him in the pecking order and that was that.
Re: Rouwen Hennings
If "coming good" was defined as playing well in the last 15 minutes away at Cardiff when we snatched a 2-2 draw then you may have a point !!jrgbfc wrote:Was starting to come good in the Championship winning season but then for some reason Dyche's blue eyed boy Ashley Barnes jumped straight ahead of him in the pecking order and that was that.
Other than that we only every started him when he had no other striking options - which i assume is because Dyche did not see enough quality from him in training and all those development games he played in.
He only cost £2m euros and was here as a 4th or 5th striker - its no real surprise or loss that he did not turn out good enough. Chris Long at £800k may turn out to be a similar signing. When you are looking at the lower leagues in this country or any other country not every player is going to realise the potential you think they may do in stepping up a league and for strikers I think this is especially the case.
To a degree we took a much bigger gamble with Andre, Ings, Austin etc

Re: Rouwen Hennings
Pretty bang average at best imo. He's very slow for a forward.I'm thankful i don't have to see that little fat arse of his chasing lost causes anymore.
I much doubt he'd even get a championship gig over here again.Low end champ/Div 1 level i'd say.Not to say he;s not got a degree of talent in front of goal, but at lower levels though.

Re: Rouwen Hennings
We are not really succeeding with foreign players are we? Republic of Ireland excepted. Apart from players like Barnes and Arfield who have changed allegiance, I can't think of many non British players who have done well for us. Perhaps it is the weather!

Just out of interest, how can a rear end be both little and fat?lakesclaret wrote:Pretty bang average at best imo. He's very slow for a forward.I'm thankful i don't have to see that little fat arse of his chasing lost causes anymore.

Re: Rouwen Hennings
Surely none of us saw enough of this guy in a Burnley shirt to form a definitive opinion. We all saw glimpses and little cameos which looked decent and showed promise, but in terms of his potential to be a regular PL starter we can't really judge imo.

Re: Rouwen Hennings
He couldnt get anywhere near our starting line up in the Championship, has done nothing more than ok in the 2nd tier of German football, isnt fancied by the best manager we've had for a couple of generations and has mediocre stats throughout his career. I dont need to watch him fail miserably over and over again to form an opinion he is not good enough
I only saw Remco play once under Coyle but could work out he was a hopeless waste of money

Re: Rouwen Hennings
Heaton was once interviewed and said that Hennings was clinical, the best finisher at the club.

it sounds good, but no-pressure finishing in training vs getting away from defenders and finishing in matches are a world apart.CharlieinNewMexico wrote:Heaton was once interviewed and said that Hennings was clinical, the best finisher at the club.
Baffled by the OP thinking "his game suits the PL". No idea what you're basing that on.
Bottom line, if Dyche rates him or not - that's good enough for me.
Re: Rouwen Hennings
Don't know why your baffled he is technically a good player we wouldn't have thought the likes of boyd and arfield would cut it until they played in the PL. We can't just assume he wouldn't cut it in this league just because he has a big rear.banjo79 wrote:it sounds good, but no-pressure finishing in training vs getting away from defenders and finishing in matches are a world apart.

I'm baffled cos we've hardly seen him play. Re: Rouwen Hennings
Not sure we get enough penaltys to warrant a German in our team, and Gray and Vokes seam to get most they take.
