Meagre pickings for the bookies from Clarets fans so far. Looking at the post 162 "profit and loss", the negatives are only about £10 more than the positives (very approx mental arithmetic). Not a very good return for the bookie- not enough profit to pay for a pitch at Ascot.
Might all change tomorrow of course.

I notice that you have made your selections early and I have purposely left mine until late to try and get some proper idea of the ground but gave up after day one.

Watering the ground unless it is extremely dangerous to the horses really does wind me up and is unfair to the owners.

I had a horse running at Cartmel years ago that liked good - good/firm ground. It was entered on the bank holiday Monday meeting so we went up for the weekend. I got up early on the Monday and wandered onto the course to see them tipping hundreds of gallons of water onto the track that had been raced on the Saturday as good ground. I found the clerk of the course to ask him why they were watering and he said that most of the declared horses wanted good to soft going.

It's a joke the amount of times that the going changes because some prat decides he wants to keep his mates happy.

But this lends itself to your inconsistent going as the water that they tip on early in the morning will have dried up by mid afternoon so the trainers / jockeys haven't a clue what ground they are going to be running on.

Why not just leave nature to take it's course?
