Thought they were in talks with left back Scott Malone and not sessagnon. I believe Sessagnon has signed a new deal this summer and when he does leave it will be for (no disrespect) a much bigger outfit than hudds.

Re: The Huddersfield Way
It is a bit strange this obsession with Huddersfield and their transfer business. They seem to be doing what we did on our previous flirtation with the Premier League. Signing a lot of proven players at the level below and/or experienced players. I guess it's a safety net in case they get relegated, which is a distinct possibility. Signing players en masse is not a proven method of success as Middlesbrough can vouch for. I'm quite happy for us to use due dilligence and bring in quality, not quantity.

They are doing nothing like what we did on our previous flirtation with the Premier League , they are actually spending money on decent players , not dross .ExistentialWanderer wrote:It is a bit strange this obsession with Huddersfield and their transfer business. Not being funny, but who have they signed who is going to illuminate the Premier League? Their manager has strengthened his squad and indeed it was much needed. To suggest they have signed anyone who Burnley would be slightly interested in, let alone a more established club is beyond bizarre.joey13 wrote:They are doing nothing like what we did on our previous flirtation with the Premier League , they are actually spending money on decent players , not dross .
I like Huddersfield and am pleased they got promoted but they seem to be panic buying. Which is understandable as this is a new level for them. I know their history etc, but financially this is huge for them and just staying in the league is their aim. The point is. It's seems to be more about quantity than quality and that's the mistake we made the last time. I've not seen a single player Huddersfield have brought in and thought 'Why didn't we go in for them?'
Re: The Huddersfield Way
Our transfer business is the same as it is every transfer window, slow and embarrassing.

Didn't they lose 4 players at the end of the season? So squad wise they are now exactly the same number wise and yet to see if the same quality. How do you know all the signings are 'decent'?joey13 wrote:They are doing nothing like what we did on our previous flirtation with the Premier League , they are actually spending money on decent players , not dross .

One club has lots of debt and that's bankrolled by their owner, the other wasn't bank rolled.

The Points being made are the real part of my post Joey.
Only a bellend would think that we have a failing transfer policy
Only a bellend would think they could do a better job than our recruitment team
Only a bellend would ignore that we smashed our transfer record three times last year
Only a bellend would ignore that we stayed up in the premier league because of what our club does.
I won't call you a bellend if it makes you feel better, but your arguments are ones made by bellends with no idea about how football works, or how Burnley does things.
I hope that clears it up for you.
And its just not aimed at you either btw

You've totally skated over my point for your own agenda. They also haven't signed anyone, any other club has been remotely interested in. They are beefing up their squad and hoping it's good enough. Re: The Huddersfield Way
We finished our first promotion season under Dyche on 93 points, with a goal difference of +35 having scored 72 goals. Huddersfield (who's promotion achievement is fantastic I must add) finished last season on 81 points with a goal difference of -2 having scored 56 goals. I think it would be fair to say that we finished that season in the Championship as a significantly better team than Huddersfield finished last season.
Yes, Huddersfield are getting their business done quickly but they're in the position where they have to improve most aspects of their squad and they have to do it quickly or else they'll be in trouble from the off (neither their defensive or offensive stats are particularly impressive from last season). Maybe Mooy and Mounie (sounds like a crap Scottish detective programme...) will be able to make that step up, but it's telling that no one else was in for them.
We no longer have to shop in the bargain basements and can genuinely compete for a higher calibre of player, Hendrick and Brady are testament to this - this takes time though. The Huddersfield Way may well end up successful, however The Burnley Way is so far proven. Long may it continue.

I struggle to see how we've got a successful transfer policy when our team is worse now than in 2014 despite having hundred(s?) of millions of pounds through the club.
