Walters fee agreed
Re: Walters fee agreed
The time has come for Brady and JBG to step up to the mark as far as wide men are concerned
Walters, for me, is one of our four striker options

Dan Agyei will feature a little this season I think, maybe even Chris Long (probably not though).jojomk1 wrote:The time has come for Brady and JBG to step up to the mark as far as wide men are concerned

Sorry, but if Agyei and/or Long feature this season we are in trouble
Nothing against the guys but nowhere near ready - loans out to decent teams for me

Wouldn't be surprised to see them both go out on loan, it might be just a question of us getting sorted First, then trying to get a good standard of loan for them.jojomk1 wrote:Sorry, but if Agyei and/or Long feature this season we are in trouble

Always good to get opinions from genuine Stoke supporters. I have a customer who is a big Stokie and he said the below...
Jon Walter's, lacks flair but has to be one of the most hard working, committed players and does score some spectacular goals. I'll be sorry to see him go, but wish him all the best. Inevitably he'll score against us now.

Why is Taylor being picked ahead of Ward? I thought Ward had a very good season. I assume we've still got him.

Re: Walters fee agreed
Just read a Stoke City forum, and the general consensus is that we've got the better of the deal. A lot think it was time for him to move on and thanks, but most wanted him to stay.
A real grafter, Sean will like that, in the Tony Pulls mould of never give up.
I did have some doubts, mainly due to his age, but reading their threads has eased them considerably.

Stoke didn't get where they are signing 34 year old players of Walters standard. They did it by offloading them to poorer clubs like in this case us

Yep Jonathan Walters. Signing a player no longer good enough for Stoke is not the blueprint for being the next stoke.

He's 33 for a start and Hughes has said today that he'll be happy if he chooses to stay
Re: Walters fee agreed
He is good enough for Stoke. He wants a longer contract. Everytime I have see him I've thought he would be a good fit for us. Little risk signing and a good addition.

Genuine comments from him when he didn't need to say anything at all. I certainly hope Hughes doesn't get to keep him because I think he'll be a damn good signing for us.KefkaClaret wrote:What else would Hughes say? "Thank Christ he's gone, he's slow and his legs have gone."

Of course he wouldn't say that. For two reasons. One, he isn't, and two, they haven't.KefkaClaret wrote:What else would Hughes say? "Thank Christ he's gone, he's slow and his legs have gone."
When this story first broke, I admit to feeling a little underwhelmed. Having thought about it for some time, read the posts on here, watched him on YouTube and read the stokies forum, I was actually starting to feel ok with this. Now having read this thread FULLY, and seen the buffoonery spouted by the same old **** stirrers, I'm totally convinced this would be a good signing for us.
Come on Burnley, make this happen.

I did when we brought him back in the premier league and but for the first few games he was rubbish.Spijed wrote:I presume you'd written off Joey Barton then!
Anyhow I don't understand your point as I've admitted I was wrong about Walters and now cannot await the officially announcement of him joining burnley.
The fact we can entice one of Stokes key players to Burnley shows how far this club has come and roll on the next 7 years is what I say

George Boyd "please can I have a 2 year deal?" Sorry son only one as you are getting on a bit. Boyd's dob 2/10/85 cost of deal wages
JonWalters "I will come to you if I can get a better deal than the one year I have with Stoke" OK we will give you 2years and poss 3 years. Walters dob 20/9/83 cost of deal £2 or 3 million plus wages.
Don't get these two deals but then i am not a footy manager

Re: Walters fee agreed
You're obviously entitled to your view, but there are many of us on here who consider that despite age, Walters is a significant step up on Boyd, and therefore it makes perfect economic sense. (Frees up Boyd's wage to go towards Walters, and although it might be useful to have both players, it would be something of a luxury).mdd2 wrote:George Boyd "please can I have a 2 year deal?"
