Rumoured to be in talks with us. Would welcome him back with open arms, personally.

Cork

Sorry if this has been mentioned before.. according to Twitter both William Hill & SkyBet won't give odds on Jack Cork coming back. Thoughts? Personally I'd love to see him back here.

PaddyPower have given odds of 6/1 for Stoke, 8/1 for Burnley. WillHill and SkyBet not giving any odds on Burnley.

Didn't he sign a new deal last year at Swansea?

Long thread on a Swansea message board a couple of days ago started by someone saying he was in talks. They weren't half slagging him off, accusing him of being lazy and lacking the quality required.

The bloke I saw with Corks name on his shirt during his loan spell will be pleased.

£5million they've got into their heads on that forum.

I'd drive over there myself and pick him up for Burnley at that price.

Surely this will depend on how far Everton get with their move on Sigurdsson. I was a big fan of Cork's when he was here, but we're a very different club playing at a very different level now. Would he make the same impression? I 'm not sure, but I'd be happy enough if SD decided it was worth a try.

If we signed Cork for a snip price I'd be quite happy. He's a decent premier league centre mid, and the position still looks very light with question marks over Defour and Marney as well. I was dreaming of someone like Delph, but if we're honest Cork is a lot more realistic.

We do need to invest in some significant upgrades as well though, but the business so far has added good talent to the overall squad.

I don't see the link between Cork & Sigurdsson. Two completely different players filling different roles in the side. I would assume Swansea will do all they can to keep Sigurdsson, without him they will be nothing like the same team.

Personally don't rate him and would be disappointed if we signed him. He offers little other than ball retention.

All his passes go either sideways or a couple of yards forward, rarely supplies a killer pass to a forward. I found his style of play very frustrating to watch at his loan spell with us, and was glad to see the back of him.

He is a below average player at this level and worth no more than 4 million max

I think his quality shone out last time we had him but his lack of mobility was obvious too
Now I think we have more quality and he won't stand out and then his lack of mobility will become a big negative.
A no thank you from me

I just wonder (if the links are to believed) that we might be looking at more of a 4-2-3-1 at times next season. Alongside what we have, the Cork and McArthur links might suggest so.

It's that guile and forward thinking that we would be missing, unless Defour is to provide this (not forgetting Hendrick).

For me, we are missing some decent pace as an outlet to really stretch the opposition.

He must be crap - Laws signed him :D

I thought he looked ok for us in the Championship but that's over six years ago now. He's spent the last five seasons in the Premier League.

No thanks. Not good enough at this level.

One of the most Frustrating and negative players I have watched in my many years of supporting Burnley.

Good ball retention. Can only pass sideways and rarely feeds a pass out of no more than a couple of yards.

I was glad to see the back of him after his loan spell

Whilst I'm not so sure he's the right man for us now, at the time we had him on loan he was a good player, and would've been a great signing.

We've moved on I think.

Cork could possibly play in a 5 man midfield. He is not good enough to play in a 4 man midfield, he is to one dimensional

That's why some people didn't like Jones, for his ball retention and sideways passing.

Anyone would think we are trying to build a squad... what if Westwood gets injured? Marney not fit, Defour isn't as disciplined as Dyche would like... so for 5m is this not a good option??

I was a huge fan of Jack Cork when he was here on loan, and I was gutted when Southampton took him permanently instead of us.

Right now though, I'd rather have James McArthur out of two of them. I think he'd suit us better than Cork would.
