Not so sure on this signing personally.

£10m seems a hell of a lot for a player whose career seems to have stalled a bit since he went to Swansea.

He does not seem to create many chances and scores even less - so that puts him in the same defensive midfielder type category as Westwood....though I did think previously that Cork was a more box to box player in the few times I have seen him for Swansea.

Still think we are missing some creativity and pace in midfield - and goal scoring threat. But guess getting one of these players is gonna cost £20m plus

Could take on the team from the late 40s and early 50s - we had Bray & Shannon then

It's 2m plus another 8m on the event of his fiftieth cap for England.

By all accounts an established PL midfielder still at the peak age of his career. Good signing for us this, plus the fans already like him from last time around.

As others have said it's 25 players plus an unlimited number of u21s. Last year we listed 42 players U21!

By first team squad I mean anyone who is given a first team squad number and therefore trains with the first team unless out on loan. Last season we had a first team squad of around 32 at any one time. Agyei, O'Neill, Massanka, Jackson, Mitchell, Anderson, Dummigan and Chris Long all had squad numbers.
25 would be the main 24 plus Chris Long. Then Agyei,O'Neill and 4 other 'young understudys' would make up 30/31

Excited for this if it happens. He was immense in his second spell with us

Possibly our best holding midfield player since Graham Alexander ?? and protection to what will be a weaker defence without Keane

Happy with this, in fact I suggested him as a potential signing before the close of the season. Not sure I'll get a cut.

It's clear we need to add some creativity into the side but so far we've strengthened with some really useful additions. Cork is a very tidy player, retains possession well and moves the ball quickly.

If you now look at our central midfield options (providing we close this deal) we have 4 players who are extremely comfortable on the ball. This should help us have a larger share of the ball and move the ball through the ranks quicker. It also would suggest that Dyche may not be as keen to bypass the midfield this season which should appease some of the critics of our style of play.

Wouldn't have imagined they'd have been walking around in a Burnley shirt though when negotiating. I'd have thought they'd be quite discreet if they were meeting in a public place. Or that could be a double bluff so the media can say "Burnley were seen talking to Jack Cork"......

He was ok at best when he played for us the 1st time around but I found him very frustrating to watch. The only thing rarer than him losing the ball was him doing something with it. Not very strong in the tackle either but that may have changed. Not for me and not for the Swansea fans who have been watching him every week which is the real worry

Why should they be discreet, it's not criminal and I would of thought anyone else that had Intentions of signing him would of been informed by his agent.

Given his age but Prem experience a figure of £10m to include add ons seems about right especially if this included a staying up add on. I still think we need someone like Snodgrass as well and if we got McArthur too then the midfield would definitely be better this season. That would leave us needing another in midfield should Defour leave.

I wouldn't expect Bumble there until a deal had been done. I might be a million miles wrong on this but I think it is more likely he's had his medical and completed the deal today and Bumble has stayed behind to accompany him to Ireland. If that's anywhere near correct I think we will find out tomorrow.

Someone mentioned earlier we now have 4 recognised CM's.Its was very rare last season (and the one before)that SD had the luxury to make changes in this area during a game, unless De Four started, which did not happen after February. The guys that got hauled off most of the time were Boyd, Arfield, Vokes, Gray or Barnes and De Four when he started

Sounds plausible, also the media team are in Ireland and they'll want to do the announcement no doubt.
