Re: How is everyone getting to Dublin.
It's 3.20 adult on the Dublin Bus, no 16 and a few others. Or there is a slightly quicker coach for 8/9Euro but it not worth it. If there's 4 of you get a taxi (if staying n town). It works out costwise and saves you time.
Why they didn't build trainline to the airport I will never know!
Also for anyone's first time to Dublin, Temple Bar is an extortionate rip off that no Irish person ever goes. You"ll be paying €20 for two pints and a packet of crisps surrounded by American tourists who have come to Ireland to find "themselves" and be better connected to their roots. The spuds in Rawtenstall ASDA probably have more Irish roots than them.
A short walk either side of Temple Bar are ample pubs with cheaper prices and much better atmosphere.
If you want a few recommendations I can give you a few

Re: How is everyone getting to Dublin.
It's fine for "a pint" and do the tourist thing, ya shure. But a night boozing, save yer money!!
I'll post few pubs here and you can add a few to it.
Long Hall - Geroges St (2 min Walk away from Temple Bar). Traditional, long Irish bar, great guinness, no music. Might not be "colours" pub, I've seen them turn away stag do's infancy dress which is fair enough.
Porterhouse (there's two of them in the centre) big craft beer pubs, sports bar, big TVs food. Cracking beer (all their own, very few main brands)
Grogans, South William At.
Shehans, Chatham St
Stags Head, Dame St
Mulligan's, Poolbeg St
All those are no more than 5 mins walk from Temple Bar and considerable better craic. Plus a few locals in their who will chat the ears off you taking about the "Republic of Burnley" squad that Ireland have
Any more Q's post them here

Re: How is everyone getting to Dublin.
Plain porter at the Porterhouse is better than Guinness. You heard it here first.
Also the beer market, just round the corner of Christ Church near temple bar, is a belting bar with fine ales mostly from Galway brewery.

Re: How is everyone getting to Dublin.
Crumbs Tony! that's steep putting it mildly, I will get the regular bus.
Simply go into Mulligans and ask I'm sure you will get the SP on everything Dublin, and the best pint of Guinness in town so the recommendations say.
I posted a link further back this thread or on the other one.
I'm just off...have a good one all

Yeah a bus to/from the airport, Luas return to Tallaught and maybe a day trip return on the coast to Howth/Dun Laoghaire (Dun-leery) or Bray and you'll have got some good value.ClaretTony wrote:It covers bus, Dart & Luas for 72 hours so good value.
Normally tourists by the 3 day leap card only for it to be a bloody expensive airport return as they never use it on anything else.

Yes that's my local. Plain Porter is fantastic, won best stout in the world for couple of years running.Darthlaw wrote:Plain porter at the Porterhouse is better than Guinness. You heard it here first.

And pretty much every pub in Dublin has good Guinness. The funniest thing is when he barmen tell the tourists that the reason the Guinness tastes so good is because all the pubs have underground pipes that come straight from the brewery to all over Dublin. The Americans lap it up everytime

Agree with the Porterhouse for some good ale. Also Sweetmans on the Quays near OConnell bridge brew their own beer onsite. For something a bit more lively try the numerous pubs down Camden Street. For something a lot more lively later at night pop to bars/clubs parallel on Harcout Street.
