Just a simple yes or no, did you turn your back that game in protest to Teasdale's stewardship of the club. Since that day I have hardly met anyone that admits to it saying it was silly and cast the club in a bad light but from what I remember as a kid on the Bee Hole End most of the fans did turn their back

I was working for BFC in the upstairs BL bars on match days. Part of my job was a drinks order for the Directors pre game and again after the match. I used to sit close to them during the match so it wasn't really good form for me to turn around.

Yes. As a protest against the board at the time. Unfortunately as I seem to remember they spun it that it was against the manager and subsequently sacked him. My memory of it may be a little foggy though.

I was on the beehole that day, no idea why, as we always went on the longside. Was probably about 15 but remember taking the diplomatic option and running off to the loo. What year was it? Was the longside being demolished at the time?

It was the year the Longside was demolished. I stood that day on the Bee Hole. And yes, I did turn my back. That board of directors(I won't capitalise them) were a busted flush and needed to move on.

Yes but like most on the Bee Hole I kept taking a quick look over my shoulder in case anything was happening. Nothing did as we were dreadful at the time, even new signing Ian Helliwell didn't improve things. 1996 was the year. Longside demolished earlier in the season.

No, but I did turn my head to look at the people behind to see what they were doing (I sat near the front). The protest was against the board, but a lot of the protesting was about "Mullen out" as well as "Teasdale out", wasn't it?

I thought I did but I rembembered it as being sat in the Bee Hole end, on the back row of the bottom tier and watching the game in the reflection of the glass.

My memory's obviously playing tricks on me. In my defence, the mid-90's were heavy drinking days.

Tried highlighting the board problems 91/2 possibly. Over the f.....g big fence Teasdale out banner! Rip frank. And we were applauded all sides of the ground.demonstration after the game holding the banner up a police horse ran through it while me and friend were holding it up and headed in the direction of the culvert!!! Never saw it again.

Much better than booing the team or having angry mobs hurling abuse and worse outside the ground.

Part of me does miss the days of the Brunshaw Rd protest, mind.

No I didn't, and I found it all pretty pathetic to be honest.

Peaceful protest never gets anywhere anyway.

I'd like to think that if we'd been lumbered with folk like the Venkys say, we wouldn't have p1ssed about throwing the odd snowball or chicken onto the pitch, and also tried to find hundreds of different ways of making us look like a bunch of girls blouses.

On the pitch and then after on to Brunshaw Rd to put some windows in.

Thanks, I did wonder why I was on the beehole that day. Was Tony Livesey rumoured to be involved or have I made that up?

I remember this being shown on a TV sports quiz ("they think its all over") - Steve Collins (boxer) was on the panel and jokingly said they had their backs to the game cos they were recording the game at home and didn't want to know the result..

I'd been informed earlier in the week that there was going to be a protest involving fans not watching the match and I automatically presumed people were going to walk out.

All in all a bit twee and damp squibish on the day with no real effect apart from getting loads of calls from Rovers mates after the game pi55ing themselves laughing.

I suppose the positive element was that it didn't involve tennis balls or whistles.

I think I was an ever present at the protests - I look back now and am so thankful to Kilby for coming in and rescuing the club from that board.

I remember a large protest in Brunshaw Rd as I got stuck in the middle of it. Cannot remember the financial details of what the board were doing wrong. Would be interested to know.

From memory the board when I worked there was

Teasdale
Doc Iven
Clive Holt
Bernard Rothwell
Bob Blakeborough
Basil Dearing

I don't think any of them had anywhere near what would be classed as substantial wealth, so there input into the club I would guess was minimal. As one who was around the directors' room on match days for a good 4 years, it was a cosy club for them to eat, drink and watch the game.

Speaking of useless directors who remembers the cricketer they brought in was it Simmons, I remember him addressing or attempting to address one of the Brunshaw Road protest with his trade mark flat cap and he admitted he wasn't a Claret or knew anything about business. The police brought him back inside for his own safety.
