The big 30

Post by ClaretAndJew » Sat Jul 29, 2017 7:52 am

Today is my birthday, and I'd like to know if any of my fellow posters able to give me tips on how I can survive now that I'm 30?

I've woken up and everything feels the same.

Any hints and tips?

First of all enjoy your birthday and secondly I can confirm from experience that you've a way to go yet before the downhill bit really kicks in.

Only pre-season friendly today but hope they can do it for my birthday.

Just realised, I share a birthday with Jay Rodriguez. Not bad company.

Yes. Don't tell your missus she needs to get in shape and then masturbate in front of her while ogling Rachel Riley in a bikini. It doesn't end well!

Happy Birthday to you...
I reached 30 in January 1980, I was living in Nottingham at the time and had a great night out in that Parliament Street area.

Key things for beyond 30 are: let your mind/personality mature but pretend your body is still in the 20s-keep playing footy/cricket/cycling/walking/running whatever; start taking saving for a pension fund seriously- the longer you save, the sooner you can retire.

Happy Birthday. Make the most of your time. Do not on any account fail to do something because you feel you are too old, because one day you will look back and realise that at thirty you are just a kid.

Glad to hear I and my ilk can take years of your life, this rejuvenation process needs investigating, perhaps Walters is already 28 after listening to my comments. No wonder Dyche is buying old.

Many happy returns.

Look, it's not really "the big 30". 30's nowt. By 50 ya might notice a few things aren't quite the same, but 30 to 40 are, in my opinion, ur best years. They were for me anyway. Get ur head down and live the dream.

Life starts at 30. Far better than your 20s. I remember being about 13 and thinking: I bet life gets really interesting from about 29. I was right. Your 30s are your best decade. Enjoy yourself.

And happy birthday to you, ClaretAndJew.

Happy Birthday.
Big 30, best decade so far for me, as i'm now early 40's.
Keep playing football, train a little bit everyday, even if it's just 15 minutes, challenge yourself a couple of times a year, tough mudder / half marathons etc, gives you a target to work towards.
That's my advice, have a good time today and just enjoy yourself.

My advice from one well past 30 is to start to eat properly. Whilst you can continue to eat and drink crap it will catch up with you.

The real reality check is 50, when you get a letter from saga reminding you of this. At 60 you get a letter from the NHS wanting turd samples (for checking for bowel cancer). You will get this every two years.

In my case I could (at 63 a 9 months) get a free bus pass, and recently, at 64, I just got a letter advising me I should apply for the heating allowance (£200). Next year, at 65, I will get my pension to complete my passage into old age. By the time you get there I doubt you will get these last three!!!!!

Actually my real introduction to old age was some years ago when a schoolboy offered me his seat on a bus. I took it of course to be polite but did he not appreciate what an insult that was, effectively saying I was an old git!

Sorry, but you are already on the downward slope. A gentle, almost imperceptible slope maybe but it gets steeper and steeper as the birthdays pass by. Eventually it becomes a steep embankment but you have a while to go yet. Just enjoy your life and remember to appreciate what you have whilst continuing to reach for your goals.

Happy Birthday :)

Life improves when you get to your big 40 and onwards.

You will be wiser, settled and have finer tastes with, hopefully, a bit more money to afford it; before the backs and knees etc start giving gip.

I'm in my 50's and enjoying life even more.

Happy birthday :)

Life is what you can make of it.

30 is a great age to be. You're still young but you're no longer naive or reckless like 20 somethings.

Enjoy it!

I turned 30 last December, and I found I was going to be a Dad for the first time a few days prior to that.

Fair to say I suddenly felt very old all at once. That feels about a week ago, but she's due next week.

Happy birthday C+J

I turn 31 tomorrow myself and I must admit nothing has really changed from when I was about 20, just don’t go out as much as I used to.

I’ve spent most of today playing Micro Machines on the PS1 And had a thoroughly good time doing so. I certainly haven’t grown up.

30? Definitely downhill from there. My mother turned 30 and Jimmy McIlroy immediately left for Stoke. It doesn't get worse than that! (Though unlike certain other people, she didn't give up going to matches!)

I'm 37 and I don't feel any different to when I was 27, so I know exactly what you mean.
There is one thing I've noticed with growing wiser, is that 3 nights out in a row = 3 day hangover. When I was 18 it would be 14 nights out in a row = 2 day hangover.

So I've learned that maths is a bit rubbish.
