Re: New striker incoming
...and if we were finding recruitment tough before we sold Gray and it became even more obvious that we were cash rich and reasonably desperate, then it got a whole lot tougher yesterday.
Begs the question (again) as to why we sold Gray without a replacement lined up. Most top two tier sides no longer tend to sell their better players before replacing them - as we know very well.

Only my opinion, but I suspect bfccrazy has been told to wind his neck in by his source as this thread is viral amongst Burnley fans and whoever has told him/Her is worried that they will be outed as the "leak"
Either that or he is 2 or 3 above. Probably 2.

All those names banded around... as soon as I've mentioned the Welbeck situation, bfccrazy has panicked.
Just had further confirmation that there is some truth in the Welbeck link, I'd be more than shocked if we manage to pull it off however.

Re: New striker incoming
You might not grudge it but i can't see how it helps team spirit when a loanee is the highest earner by some distance at the club, anyway he's always injured. The worry is we don't seem pro-active, there has been talk all summer of Gray departing, so surely we have some plan to replace him, unless his replacement was assombalonga ,beyond that the only striker we have been seriously linked with is Shane Long,it possible we sign someone out of left field but i'd be surprised.Quickenthetempo wrote:I wouldn't grudge us paying that for a top loan player. 5.2 million is peanuts for a season of someone with that pace and quality.

BFCcrazy, for him to accurately confirm the starting line up each week on a Friday evening would indicate that he is probably loosely connected to the club so he can see the training line up on a Friday or he is peering through the bushes whilst he is dogging.
Either way I thought his posts were eventually banned because of the potential damage it could cause and rightly so. Obviously again he has put his own ego first and should be banned like marlonpants.

Re: New striker incoming
Ings has busted his ass all summer to be fit. I'm sure due diligence will be done even if it's just a loan. Defour will be a much better player with someone like Danny who intelligently stretches defences - he'll actually have someone to pass to. If Danny comes back he will come back with a point to prove and if he is anything he is a fighter. He would be a big upgrade on gray that's for certain

Ings from what I gather, has had no pre season to speak of. So he wouldnt be any use to us until pushing Christmas. One to review in January.
Re: New striker incoming
How does that work. The rest have only been in pre season 6 weeks. If we signed him tomorrow, 6 weeks doesn't even take us to October.Papabendi wrote:Ings from what I gather, has had no pre season to speak of. So he wouldnt be any use to us until pushing Christmas. One to review in January.

6 weeks when the season hasn't kicked off is completely different to 6 weeks when it has. At least in pre season you can experiment, tinker and the players get to bond. The only bonus with ings is he mighy have some familiarity to how we play.

I don't know which is worse. bfccrazy or SD bursting our bubble ?
Either way it will end in tears when the transfer window closes. Sounds like the best we can hope for are more Walters type signings. Nothing wrong with Walters but nothing very exciting either. This season is going to be tougher than last season.

Surely any player we sign will have been getting match fitness with their respective clubs.Conroy92 wrote:6 weeks when the season hasn't kicked off is completely different to 6 weeks when it has. How much bonding is required anyway?
Re: New striker incoming
Many managers have said getting players in as early as possible is better than leaving it until late on. That along with common sense tells you that would be preferable. It's obviously much easier said than done though with the complexities of the transfer market these days.Spijed wrote:Surely any player we sign will have been getting match fitness with their respective clubs.

Well first of all, if he isn't fit for competitive action, he is still working on his base level of fitness to get back on the grass. Once he's ready for that, he will need to play a series of games to get anywhere near a Premier League first team start. For Vokes, this was about five or six matches. And when he came back, he was still nowhere near right. Perhaps it will be quicker for Ings, the point being he is nowhere near ready to make the impact we need.

Where are you getting this info about no pre season from? Last interview (last week) I saw with Klopp talking about Ings is very positive. Also very complimentary about the extra work he has been doing to give himself an even bigger edge over the other vying for the strikers berth.Papabendi wrote:Ings from what I gather, has had no pre season to speak of. So which of Liverpool's pre season games has he appeared in? If he is close to a return, I assume he would have featured at least from the bench? Correct?

I really do wonder sometimes if some on here think our premiere league standard board and manager are part time decorators in their free time ( nothing against decorators) medical are there for a reason, the will of the player will be assessed by the manager, the money will be discussed between board and agent, and when all them align, the players wife will have to understand she is not going in the directors box, and then the player sjgns
