Looks like he might not be available for less than Chris Wood after all. Any other suggestions?Colburn_Claret wrote:I've read the same reports, but it's hard to imagine them putting a 27mill release clause in his contract, which must have been made at the time he signed up, yet only cost them 3.5mill. It doesn't add up, unless there has been the normal Spanish chicanery taking place, in order to avoid taxes.

Read somewhere they're after Costa on loan as Atletico Madrid can't sign anyone 'til 2018. Would Perez and Costa coming in allow them to accept a lower offer?

Re: Florine Andone - £11.8m bid
Oh my, the show reel highlight clips really don't do this guy justice. After watching him in some full matches I don't have any reservations about him at all. Chris Wood doesn't come anywhere close, definitely the type of player we need. If we didn't have Vokes I might think differently, but we do. Its a sizeable risk moving him to a new country, league and team but I would be perfectly happy if we go back in with a better offer at some point, as long as we don't get silly.Vegas Claret wrote:I watch a lot of La Liga, finally a potential target I can get genuinely excited about. Re: Florin Andone - £11.8m bid
We appear to be heavily negotiating for three strikers (Wood, Andone and if you believe Jason O'Connor - I do, personally - Shane Long).
One can only assume we want two out of those three.

Took a year though. We need the guy fired up and firing them in. A real unknown quality in the premier league can squeeze a load of goals in. Defenders don't know how they play for the first year.

Re: Florin Andone - £11.8m bid
I'd like to think that if we're persisting in trying to sign him and have committed time and resources to doing so, we've already ascertained that there's a very good chance of him being interested in coming.
I think we're all quite enthused by the prospect of this one. From the Youtube clips - admittedly a decidedly unreliable witness - he looks to have a combination of craft, pace and physicality which would fit in really well with us. If we were to sign him and Long, who of course is used to playing wide in a 4-5-1 (as Andone may be able to for all I know), it feels as though we'd have a good range of strikers - a target man in Vokes, a rugged physical nuisance in Barnes, a good athlete in Long, and a bit of a wild card x-factor in Andone.

Re: Florin Andone - £11.8m bid
The Perez loan going through could either help or hurt our chances of landing Andone. It could easily go either way.
Before the loan a cash injection that Deportivo could use to secure Perez might have been attractive, but that is no longer an immediate issue. The payment of any significant amount in relation to a permanent transfer has effectively been deferred until the end of his loan. I suspect Deportivo are under less pressure to sell Andone now. They could be looking to play Perez and Andone together, considering the shortage of striker candidates in their squad.
The key factor has shifted towards how Andone feels about the arrival of Perez and a potential move to Burnley. For their part Deportivo have placed themselves in a much stronger negotiating position, they can charge what they want for him now. It might have been better for us is if Arsenal had strung them along until the end of the window.

True but Deportivo are also wanting Diego Costa on loan until January as Atletico Madrid have a transfer embargo until then. It's patently obvious he won't be playing for Chelsea again so the finances from the Andone deal could go towards his salary.Long Time Lurker wrote:The Perez loan going through could either help or hurt our chances of landing Andone. I've read the comments and he definitely sounds interested in coming here. Seems that if we still want him we will just have to reach agreement with Deportivo.
He's playing live on Sky tonight so a chance to have a closer look at him. Unless he gets withdrawn late in the day.
