Had to get a free one as none of the paid ones I could find can be used with the first generation firestick. There are a few out there - ultrasurf, vpnmaster - that can all be found with installation instructions on YouTube. From what I read the paid ones are better and the latest fire tv boxcan support them. I'm no expert but if the VPN side is an issue I think the latest fire tv box would be a better option if you haven't bought anything yet. Cheers

2 options
1) Buy a £35 firestick, watch the videos on YouTube that are linked here and away you go. Took me a few hours to set mine up at first

2) Buy already done one for £50 from "a guy"

Smart tv isn't need led only a HDMI port & wifi.
Once it's done the stick can be plugged into any other tv where there's access to wifi.

Using it is simple. So much so that even my parents & mother-in-law now use one
Thanks Wilks. Option 2 sounds good to me as I am useless with this sort of thing. How do I get in touch with "a guy" anyone?

The Fire stick is fine if...

1) you have a solid WiFi signal
2) you only install the few addons you need, not loads of added crap you'll never use (like the pre-loaded sticks on eBay)

The Fire TV Box is much better, the only other device that beats it is the Nvidia Shield which costs quite a lot more (but it's fantastic :D )

As already pointed out, SportsnationHD costs £50 for a year and gives you all the live sports including PPV events. You can purchase shorter deals (1 day, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months) I originally tried the 1-month deal then quickly added another year. There are Fartbook groups for help and support, pinned posts therein provide all the info you need.

Whatever device you use you will have to perform a little regular maintenance to keep it working at its peak. eg I regularly clear the cache and I restart my Shield every Saturday and Sunday morning if I have a full day of footy to watch (usually, 5 back to back matches, often followed by boxing or UFC).
Most footy matches, particularly the 3pm Premier League ones, will have 5 or 6 links to choose from, some in HD and some in SD (for those with poor WiFi or download speeds). The minimum speed needed for these streams is around 5Mb but more is better.

Exodus or Specto addons give access to all the TV and films, a Real Debrid account is recommended as well. Once connected to Exodus (takes 2 minutes) Real Debrid will provide the highest quality links for your TV and film choices. Real Debrid costs 32 Euros a year, again you can purchase shorter terms if you wish.

Sounds good until kodi brings out a new build then youll either have to buy a new one or do it yourself anyway.

Personally I'd get a raspberry pi at the cheaper end of the price range. More powerful than a fire stick for the same price.

You can download Spotify on the box as normal but for Premium you still have to pay. I am almost certain it is not available in Kodi, but i am happy to be corrected.

Hey ClaretDriver,

Setting up Kodi is easy, all you gotta do is download it from their official page. Then run the setup, follow on-screen instructions and before you know, it'll be installed in your system. Let me know if you're getting stuck anywhere, I can share a couple of useful youtube vids and links with you.

For addons, you can actually try some of these:

1. Phoenix
2. iPlayerWWW
3. USTVNow
4. Ivacy VPN
5. CCloud TV
6. UKTVNow
7. Vdubt25
8. Veetle
9. Exodus

There is an MP3 streams add on that has A LOT of music - and you get YouTube.

Not Spotify, but not £10 a month either.

Don't know much about this - does the VPN work on your router or the Kodi/TV box?

I don't use any of those add-ons but I imagine that some of them work by peer-to-peer distribution where you're effectively uploading the files as well as watching them. This means you're distributing copyrighted content which is illegal. The VPN encrypts your connection so you're less likely to get caught breaking the law.

Most VPNs will work on the Kodi box, only on your router if you set it up which is usually more complicated. (Although if it's a Fire stick there seems to be a reasonable chance that the VPN may not actually work, even if it appears that it is.)

My go-to build, TopTutorials, have taken down their builds and I have another stick to do for a friend
Can anybody recommend any decent builds for the firestick?

If you are looking to install Kodi on your windows 10 then you got to go through these easy 8 steps:

1 Download Kodi from its official website or get its app from Microsoft’s store
2 Locate the destination of the downloaded file and launch the setup
3 Click ‘Yes’ when asked for permission so that the setup wizard can run
4 Select ‘I Agree’ to accept the license agreement and move forward
5 Choose the components you want to install and click ‘Next’
6 Select the destination folder where you want to install Kodi and hit ‘Next’
7 Kodi should now start installing onto your system
8 Once the installation is finished, check ‘Run Kodi’ checkbox and click ‘Finish’.

For other windows versions you might get a lot of help from here https://www.kodivpn.co/how-to-install-kodi-on-windows/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And further if you are looking forward to put on add-ons there are a lot of guides in there or on google too.

There is an APK for it on firetvguru.net but I havent tried it.

I'm guessing it's an "unblocked" version though.
