Chris Wood's medical
Re: Chris Wood's medical
I think an even bigger debate will be if we go 4 5 1 and play Vokes as a 10, or 4 4 2 with Vokes and Wood up front, who will be sacrificed out of our midfield 5 who are playing so well at the minute?
Re: Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
I see what your saying re Gray but then look at Ings who was absolutely excellent for our system.. Andone, for example, seems to have more of an Ings about him than Gray.KRBFC wrote:We had a pacey striker last season and he was useless upfront on his own, he didn't fit the way we play like Vokes does. I'm impressed so far, we look a better side, Dyche is buying players to fit the system which Gray didn't, pace isn't essential in a lone forward role when we are controlling the game more, we need a striker to hold it up and make it stick like the 4 do. If we need pace it will be wide right to whip balls in the box for Wood/Vokes.

Re: Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
I hope we do stick to 4-5-1 as much as possible but I reckon we will start at least 20% of the games and probably more 4-4-2 this season so having someone with pace and mobility is a real must for me.KRBFC wrote:We have played a lone striker in both games this season though so I presume this is Dyches new system and he wont stray from it much.
Yeah the signing of Walters was a waste really, I said so at the time. A strange signing, good player but just doesn't fit anywhere and is taking up a striking spot which could be taken by someone else.

Re: Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
Looks very one dimensional, reflected yesterday in the substitutions - added nothing other than lumping it into the box.
Daz bentley and chris wood
Can we have Michael duff doing the interview and get wood to admit it was a push before he scored that cracker for Leicester against us in our promotion season if not get him out the door how did that goal even stand.

Defour probably.ClaretAL wrote:I think an even bigger debate will be if we go 4 5 1 and play Vokes as a 10, or 4 4 2 with Vokes and Wood up front, who will be sacrificed out of our midfield 5 who are playing so well at the minute?

Another interesting question. Would Dyche fancy Defour in a 4-4-2? He's been our best player in both games and looks bang on it so he surely can't be dropped to the bench.ClaretAL wrote:I think an even bigger debate will be if we go 4 5 1 and play Vokes as a 10, or 4 4 2 with Vokes and Wood up front, who will be sacrificed out of our midfield 5 who are playing so well at the minute?

Agree with this in that its an Ings like player more than a Gray like player I think we need and would fit in perfectly instead of one of Barnes or WaltersRVclaret wrote:I see what your saying re Gray but then look at Ings who was absolutely excellent for our system.. Agreed.
Superb goal though. That was the game when Sam got injured and we already had Ings, Trippier and Marney out (as I recall?). Barnes on his own up top with Edgar in midfield!

Nope.
2013 -14 was some of the best attacking fluent football I've ever seen Burnley play.
Dyche plays to the strengths of the players he has available to him in accordance to the level we are playing at.

Re: Chris Wood's medical
Twitter reports coming through that his arms, neck, lower jaw and left foot have currently passed medical inspection.
Awaiting reports from the rest of his body and confirmation of the groin area.

Re: Chris Wood's medical
In a 4411 vokesy would probably play behind wood. I would play hendrick wide right instead of jbg. The former can play the boyd role thus giving Lowton a bit more freedom to get forward to cross to wood and vokesy.

I was positive about Yesterdays game despite the loss, please don't try and turn it into a negative and cause an argument because I have no interest in that. If you want my thoughts on the game, read my latest posts.Sidney1st wrote:Were we one dimensional yesterday?

Hands are up, I haven't seen your post match comments, so my comment was in ignorance of yours.
I just based by question on what I saw yesterday.

Would be bordering on insanity to drop Defour the way he is playing. Has been outstanding, clearly no issues with his fitness now, motivation is not a problem and look how he went for it yesterday we went behind - was great to see.RVclaret wrote:Another interesting question. Re: Chris Wood's medical
If we don't start scoring from set pieces then there is something seriously wrong
Re: Chris Wood's medical
Should do well for us then as we don't score many from outside the box and a couple of his headers would have done nicely yday instead of Sam's misheader and Mee's missclaretandy wrote:Just watched all his goals from last season, 7 penalties, 4 headers and the rest tap ins and poachers goals.
