crucial that Defour is constantly involved with his current great form, right behind whoever Dyche plays up front.

If he's had a medical and passed, why the big delay?

The paperwork will be waiting for ratification by the FA. Office staff are usually not available on Sundays. Wood, BFC and LUFC have to all submit the relevant forms and documents to the FA and get a receipt before the transfer is official.

I can't believe a Blackburn fan whose absolute idol is Sam Allardyce and he's slagging off the quality of goal burnley have scored against his team.

Mate, you're 17th in League One. Stop embarrassing yourself.

He's certainly completed his medical. Were SSN really there all day? They showed him going and an hour or so ago they showed him coming out again. Physio Ally Beattie was with them this time.

If that's been OK then I'd expect the deal to be signed and announced sometime tomorrow.

Not at all, we are signing a player who was the leading goalscorer in the Championship last season to replace a player who was the leading goalscorer in the Championship in the previous season. Now, in terms of strikers, signing Anthony Stokes would be a strange signing.

£15 million for a Sam Vokes clone.

He'll take time to figure out the step up in class but he's much more of a handful than anyone we currently have that's for sure. Given our style of play I think he will do well for us

I just expected a different type of forward tony. As I say, you have to trust the manager. 15m upwards is a lot though for a player that's been indifferent for many seasons until last? Gotta be knocking on a bit too? Seems years since he scored prolifically at Leicester (?)

Just cos he's a lump of a lad, as is Vokes, it doesn't make them similar, unless you are basing it on in depth analysis.
Moving forward we need more than one goal scoring target man, injuries, form and 433's etc.
He may not be Grays replacement, that may to be sorted, and maybe in any case Wood will prove to be a better option as a 442 partner than Gray.

A Leeds mate of mine just made the point, he's not that different to Vokes (obvs they've been paying more attention to Vokes game than they normally would)... so I think its a signing to threaten Sam's place rather than as someone who's going to automatically jump into the first 11.

Hopefully there's another forward being lined up to mix it up a bit.

We arent going to pay this sum for a bench warmer so after an initial settling in month or two I suspect this is the end of Sam's days as an automatic starter.

He's a little bit quicker than Vokes, that's all.

I doubt very much that we'll be getting in another forward if/when we sign Wood.

It's an underwhelming signing, but don't worry I won't go on and on about for the next 3/4 years.

He'll get an extra layer of Dyche fitness, and once embedded in the Squad mantra he'll be fully combative.

I see us starting 4-5-1 with either Sam or Chris starting depending on fitness and form - if we're leading after 60 mins replacing one with the other but if we're losing switching to 4-4-2 using which ever combo Sean is happiest with.

Playing 1 up and it being EITHER Wood or Vokes is fine and may well work up to a point, but (and I've never seen Wood play in the flesh so I may be wrong) if we need to change and we go to a front 2 it really needs to be a big guy and a smaller, much quicker guy as in Vokes/Ings or Vokes/Gray. Vokes/(aging) Walters just doesn't cut it for me and that's a worry.
