Sausages burned. Beans are too wet. Everything looks deep fried...
To be fair, they look like they can cook an egg well

agree on the fatty looking nature of that brekky....wouldnt say sausage was burned though...those thick sausages need some time in the pan....personally used to do mine in the oven rather than pan.

Now I'm going to break the message board and state that streaky bacon is the one to go for.

Re: Hash Browns
just checked out a hash brown recipe.
well easy to make
peel spud
grate
wash/rinse starch away twice
get as dry as possible
melt clarified butter and fry on medium heat breaking up and flipping as it browns
season with...salt...pepper...cayenne pepper as you break and flip the mix
you can serve the mixture in this loose style or transfer part way through cooking into
a stainless steel open ended mould.....heart shaped if serving your beloved....voila...
perfect hash browns.
for me this is gagging to be topped with a poached egg and served with beans and perhaps bacon or sausage....utc.

I once had a full English with a duck egg. Strange choice of dining partner and the conversation was non existent.

Brown sauce sets a fried egg off wonderfully.
Ketchup (shudder) can't compete.

Now then Electro... seeing as we've just got a point at Spurs - and only because it's a special occasion you understand - I will concede that brown sauce has its place in the culinary pantheon. Tried it years ago, absolutely awful.
You have to mix in cheese and a few jalapenos HC
Around here they also drop the hominy (grits when they're not ground up yet) in a stew called Pozole and cook it for days.
It's awesome.

Bread - thick Granary or Sourdough for the toast.
Beans is poor. But beans and tomatoes ? Please God no....
What have you done to the sausage ? Cut in half and fried just dries it out.
I would rather have my healthier option from last week, a lemon feta, olive and kale omelette witha tomato salsa. Quite nice actually, not a proper breakfast I grant you, but quite nice.

Beans - a bit high in sodium, but overall, not bad at alll.
Sausage - protein
The worst thing is black pudding because it's animal fat. The rest? Fine in moderation.
It just goes to show how people follow what appears in the newpapers.

Don't cut your sausages in half, that's what Jocks do and call it a square sausage.djemba-djemba wrote:Bacon grilled instead of fried.

I always grill sausages because I like them browned all over. The previous picture on here looks to me that the sausages aren't cooked enough, even though they are black in places.
You have to fry bacon, there's no other way. A decent pan and decent bacon doesn't require oil, fat or lard.

Point is, it all tastes great without all the grease. I don't actually eat it that way to be healthier, I just think it tastes better like that.

The picture is actually prettty much a classic full english just missing a black pudding, spliting sausages down the middle is good when they're fat ones as cooks em through and reduces the cooking time.

Re: Hash Browns
For those who say potatoes have no place in breakfast, what about bubble and squeak? For me - growing up in Canada - hash browns come in many forms. Essentially those potato squares, or grated potato formed into a patty; you can flavour them in a lot of different ways. A little oregano, rosemary and thyme. Always some onion. Mixed in with tinned corn beef. You're limited only by your imagination. There's no reason at all for them to be flavourless.

That photo does not look appetising.
Yesterday I took into account the 2 world wards and endless sacrifices; 2 poached eggs, Black pudding, bacon, sausage, fried mushrooms, sourdough toast washed down with a strong coffee and apple juice. In a French bistro; they do a better breakfast than the Americans....
