His body language on the picture in the report looks good/positive so that should please some fans at least.
Give the guy a chance - In Dyche we have to trust

He looks very adept with either foot and has ability to get early shots off. Skills that will get him goals at this level I'm sure. Goals per game not to be sniffed at and if Dyche has been after him for a while that's more than good enough for me.

To score more goals this year than Gray anyone?

At just £5m, (which is peanuts in todays market) I think and a decent backup striker - different to what we already have.

Wells is a natural finisher ?????? ............He scores on average 11 goals a season, 10 last season "natural finisher"

The club is supposed to be going forward , but hasn't learned from previous failures,
I have had a season ticket for 35 plus years, and this signing in my opinion is one of the bad ones..
You can't have been paying much attention in the last 35 plus years, if you think this is a bad signing!

It's hardly Ian Helliwell, is it?

Well, enough comments on here about Wells that I am not comfortable with. Billy Bumface summed it up further up the board.
I'm staying away from this board now until the weekend at the earliest.

If there's so many folk on here who can do the job better than Sean Dyche, then you need to get yourselves sorted into managerial posts up and down the country. The lad hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and he's already being written off. The scourge of Championship Manager strikes again.

Spot on Over the last 35 years it's not a bad signing but looking at our last 2 years and the players we have brought in then this is right down there.

Quite right. The Northampton manager's job has just become available.

Perhaps some on here can show their expertise there!

He's definitely suffering from not being signed from St Etienne or Pescara or ideally from some Argentine club.

These guys don't spend their lives on FIFA or whatever just for us to sign a guy from Huddersfield who we've heard of.

Sorry to all the happy clappers, but this signing shows the limitations of our recruitment team in identifying and signing new talent to take us forward
A player who, on history over several seasons, shows nothing better than our current group of 4 strikers
Will be a double blow if 1 of the 4 now goes elsewhere

It's more fun stamping your feet over and over when you don't get what you want. Most people grow out of that when they reach 6 years old but this message board seems to have a high concentration of infants. I'm surprised that CRB checks aren't required in order to register.

Yeah really sad that some fans consider a signing as bad business.... Oh wait fans aren't allowed an opinion. I'm sure we will all support him when he pulls on the shirt regardless of our opinion on his signing and that's all that matters. If hes our final signing I wont be impressed but ill want him to succeed as much as anyone.

Looking at where Sean Dyche and the Board of Directors have brought us to, you need to be an extremely dissatisfied person to find anything significant to complain about. At what point in Burnley's history would you look at the club's current position and think that things are going wrong?

There are an apparently large number of supporters who have already decided that Wells is no good. When he comes on the field, how many bad passes will it take before they (and you) start booing?

And you've got this wrong before about not being allowed an opinion. You can post as much fatuous nonsense as you like; you have proved this time and again. What you persistently object to is people disagreeing with your opinion.

Nobody is right 100% of the time. The issue is with posters who believe they are right 100% of the time, so when Dyche thinks one thing, they think another, then Dyche is wrong.

I also think it's particularly unfair on the player that he is being written off before even pulling the shirt on. He shouldn't read this message board but if he does, and he probably will, I can't imagine he'll feel very welcome.

I've watched him dozens if times. I've formed an option based on that, as I did with Reid, Sordell, juke, Anderson etc.

He will get my backing, I'm just going into it with my eyes fully open. Not hoping for a miracle.

I have no problem with calling a player crap if they don't play for us and whenever I have seen them play they have been crap.

Now he plays for us I will judge him on his performances for us.

He's quick with a low centre of gravity.
Sort of player that can pounce on loose balls in and around the box before the gazelle like defenders and fellow attackers can get their lanky legs going.
Gray was this, in theory, he's gone
Chris Long is this but he's probably not considered first team material as yet.
There you go he offers something different.

I called Wells crap the other day whist he wasn't a Burnley player based on the 15-20 I have seen him play. Does that mean I am not a Burnley supporter?

I also think the majority of Rovers team is crap based on what I saw the other week. Does that mean i am not a Burnley supporter?

Now that he has signed i wish him all the best and hope he proves to be a good signing

I don't think he's good enough having watched him play, ill be delighted if I'm proven wrong. Why would I boo a Burnley player? I hated Gifton upfront, still cheered his hat trick.

I have no problem if people think he's a good signing, that's completely up to them to form their own opinions. If I disagree with an opinion, it doesn't make me correct which is the concept you're struggling to deal with.

Our club and management team have proven they know what they are doing so if they think that Wells is worth signing then I'm certainly not going to dismiss him.

I also think it's particularly unfair on the player that he is being written off before even pulling the shirt on. He shouldn't read this message board but if he does, and he probably will, I can't imagine he'll feel very welcome.

Do the robot fans genuinely think he wont get all the supporters backing? Do the really think he will get abuse when he plays?
He will get everyone's full backing when on the field, just because we are not hanging out the bunting and celebrating his arrival doesn't mean we wont support him.

He has already pulled on the shirt by the way, just saying like.

Apart from your "robot fans" being nonsense, yes, I genuinely think he won't get all the supporters' backing, just as Brian Laws didn't get all the supporters' backing. If there is a sizeable number of fans who think he's useless, they will be a lot quicker to see a misplaced pass and start booing. A player with the fans' goodwill behind him has a much better chance of success.
