Wonder which way Barrowford voted?
I wonder why you are finding it boring? If there are fewer people in the country surely house prices will come down (supply and demand)

Re: Inflated transfer fees- blame brexit!!!
Well no, because that wouldn't work.
We are leaving, but we have to leave so that a big enough % is happy with the outcome. That isn't 52%, but more like 65-70% and the only way to do that is probably accepting that we need to stay in the single market. Its amazing how things like sovereignty become less important when money gets a bit tight.
Its going to be tough though, as it requires common sense on all sides and for the uber brexiteers (and remainers) to understand that they won't get exactly what they want, but they will get some of it.

How do this fit with Barnier saying we need to be punished and taught a lesson ?Lancasterclaret wrote:Well no, because that wouldn't work.

I'm not sure that he's ever said we need to be punished, in fact the last article I read he was saying the opposite.claretandy wrote:How do this fit with Barnier saying we need to be punished and taught a lesson ?
"“It’s not a ransom. It’s not an exit bill. It’s not a punishment. It’s not a revenge,” he said.
He did recently say that we need to be taught a lesson, (i.e. educated about the consequences), but that's not the same thing.

Re: Inflated transfer fees- blame brexit!!!
I think Barnier's right when he says our Government have never told us - and continue to do so - what Brexit will realistically mean to our prospects as a nation and individually.
I find it incredible that, given this backdrop of uncertainty at best and sheer incompetency at worst, punters like Ringo (his word frequency shown above shows his extremely limited agenda) can sneer at others who, quite rightly, question the manner our er, leaders seem to smokescreen and blunder from one week to the next.

He is right. Also, it's very difficult for the government and the press to suddenly start being honest about Europe at this late stage.evensteadiereddie wrote:I think Barnier's right when he says our Government have never told us - and continue to do so - what Brexit will realistically mean to our prospects as a nation and individually.
They've spent years and years painting the EU as some sort of demon. An institution that creates many of the UK's problems. They've lazily blamed Europe for all of our ills because the uncomfortable truth is many of our issues are caused here, by our own government. It's why the referendum was such a stupid idea. David Cameron was as guilty as anyone when it came to blaming Europe for our problems, so by the time he fessed up about Europe and the benefits it gives us, it was too late. The damage had already been done.

Did he? I can't find the 'punished' word reported anywhere. I can see the “We intend to teach people … what leaving the single market means" quote, but not the bit you're apparently seeing.claretandy wrote:He said it at the weekend to a business conference.

Re: Inflated transfer fees- blame brexit!!!
Well, apart from the fact that this is nothing compared to the regular briefings that our bunch of incompetents give out on a daily basis and the reality is that this is a negotiation in which the only card we appear to hold is that a lot of the population, despite all the evidence, still think the EU are begging us not to go and will give us everything we want. We need to be realistic and compromise on what we can and can't get out of this. How do this fit with Barnier saying we need to be punished and taught a lesson ?
Its called compromise Andy. You should try it.

Re: Inflated transfer fees- blame brexit!!!
I like Andrew Neil, think he's pretty balanced but he's getting owned on twitter on a regular basis by people who know what they are talking about in regards to the EU.
I get that because of people like you, the govt have to talk like its 1943, but at some stage they are going to have to remember that it is their job to get a deal for the whole of the country.
What makes this even more hilarious (its not funny at all to be honest, but its what we deserve) is that we are currently nailed on to have a government led by Corbyn with Abbott in it.
And its because of people like you.

You find the link, and then you paste it on here.
Bit like Ringo did at the start, and didn't it work out well?

But let me guess, you still can't find the actual quote from him.
I seriously doubt you follow remainers anyway, you have proved time and time again you can't handle anything that doesn't fit in with your world view.

Maybe this is why Andy’s the way he is. When he went to school his timetable had “lessons” on it but he thought it was punishment so he didn’t go.

Well-supported opinion.
BTW, the EU negotiating position, and out complete incompetence, is having the effect the EU want.
