Walker is having a bit of a mare, but it's 45 minutes. He's a quality player overall.

All over Europe there are better players at £10m than Walker and Ox at their ludicrous fees.

Hate to admit it but I don't think the FA could do better than SD to sort this England team out. God forbid them seeing sense though.

I don't rate the Ox, but I don't think you've seen Walker play much. He's better than Trippier, who I'm sure you rate.

Only Burnley fans can blame Hart for that goal.
And the ITV pundits it seems! Wasn't a convincing attempt to stop it tbh.

Anyone know why Ox Chamberlain is playing?

Heaton would have been all over that Slovak like an octopus on acid, for their goal

I think Paul Ince was given a chance and then they thought better of it.

He genuinely compared Rashford to Thierry Henry because he's been put on the wing. Nothing like each other.

I like Walker defensively but for all the forward runs he makes nothing ever comes from them.
He's never worth £50m.

A nice hit. I'd still bring Vardy on now - forget winning 2-1. These need taking to the cleaners and go for 3-1.

If you were a manager and your team took the lead at 2-1, would you ever consider going for it and think, we're better than these, we can batter them. He's taken Rashford off and brought Welbeck on, but I'd take a defensive central midfielder off and bring Vardy on. They can pass the ball around but Slovakia have offered very little threat. We should push a bit further forward, get the 3rd goal. Their heads will drop and we can then get a 4th or 5th goal. Southgate is too cautious.

Football is all about the 3 points. It's about winning games. However I do agree that our national side is bobbins. I don't think I've got excited about England since the 2006 world cup and before. Maybe because I'm getting older and wiser or maybe because they're just ****.

But when teams sit back thats also taking a risk. You ask the opposition to come at you. Anyway, we won - didn't overly impress me, but we won.

Yeah if you think short term it's about 3 points. Got to see beyond that though and we are predictably ******* dreadful under Southgate. Southgate out

The manager makes no difference. It runs deeper than that. We have had world class managers in the past and sacked decent managers for silly things. Our national pool is too small and our pool of managers even smaller. Not 1 English manager has won the PL. That is a disgrace in itself. Same old discussion though with england. In recent times it's been too much too soon and the England cap has been devaluated.

I think you have to see beyond it too. There's so many variables to take into account. But if I'm managing a side and we're winning - that to me is sometimes the time to go even more attacking. Of course, if it's a very tight game, that's different, but the last thing a team expects if you take the lead, is to attack even more. It's not the thing you do all the time, but I think England should have done that today.

If we're on about coaches, I don't think it makes a difference either. If you don't have enough quality it doesn't matter who's picking it. Look at Capello's record. Look at Sven's record. We still couldn't win a one ticket raffle between them.

Stupid expectations.

Most of us will agree this is one of the least talented side in years. So why are people expecting them still to win tournaments?

England followers are worst than Leeds, West Ham, Liverpool and Newcastle supporters rolled into one.

It's the boring repetitive sh1te that gets me.

The full back/wide man gets a few yards of space for a cross, but it goes backwards to another for a cross, or to play right the way along the 18 yard box via a few other players to the other flank.

Get the f***ing thing over you f***ing messers.

Any road we won. 8-)

All the FA care about is qualifying and the wonga it generates,England will now be going to Russia, and may get through the group can't see much beyond that though.I suspect the Russian authorities are going to enjoy a busy summer, with English,German and Russian hooligans :(

2nd half was fine, it fact probably the best we've played for a while.

But we are miles away from winning anything until we can pass like everybody else appears to be able to do and at pace.

But it was a lot better tonight thankfully

You might want to watch the replay. The guy had time to bring it out of the sky and pick his spot from the corner of the 6 yard box whilst Hart stood and watched. Any top class goalkeeper would have been 2 yards from the striker by the time he had it under control.

Disagree mate. Klopp has Henderson performing at a much higher level than Southgate does. Sterling is well over-rated but for the time being gets in the Man City team managed by a top manager. Alli usually plays much better for Spurs under Pochetino than under Southgate.

Now you could say that they get more time with the players than Southgate gets and that is true, but 20 good (notice good not great) players don't become awful players over night - it's down to the manager and he is not up to it imho. FFS he celebrated an equalizer at Hampden (after we'd thrown the game away) like a World Cup winning goal

The one thing you fail to mention is Klopp has Henderson around better players and so do the other managers.

which tbh goes without saying. Still doesn't explain how Henderson can control a game in the Champions League and be gash for England though. I can understand there being a slight dip in form as to the point you made, but you don't go from an 8 out of 10 to a 4 out of 10.

Henderson has only been involved in 3 Liverpool victories in the CL since being there (I've counted the 2 recent qualifying legs in those 3)

You've made him sound like a seasoned CL veteran a la Roy Keane, Clarence Seedorf.

Hart had strong arms for his save. the goal - maybe Heaton would have anticipated quicker and been a yard further forward. Who knows.

Genuine question, how many times has he played considering they don't often qualify. The point wasn't only about Henderson which you would have got had you read the previous posts. I also have no idea how you can interpret my comments as comparing Henderson to the players you mentioned

It's a pity Heaton blew his chance when he was given an opportunity, although Hart gets chance after chance , I would go with Butland.

You said How can Henderson go from controlling CL games to that. He hasn't ever controlled a CL game. This season will be only his 2nd campaign in the CL for Liverpool. They only won 1 game the previous campaign.

Giving him the captaincy wouldn't fill be with much hope if I was a fellow player.

I couldn't believe the amount of times Oxlade Chamberlain wasted possession last night, even simple crosses were over hit  if he is the best we have got in that position.
