There was an odeon also. Memory tells me it was where the staples store is now. Could be wrong of course... memory tells me all sorts of shite these days.
Unit 1-2-3

The one at Rosegrove was called The Colosseum

Actually, Burger King is much better value for money than McDonald's.

There used to be one years ago on St James street didn't there?
On the corner opposite Marks & Spencers.

I always feel like I've been short-changed at Burger King because the pictures of the burgers don't match what I'm given in regards to the size of them.

None of them do though sid. You seen the pic of a maccies double cheeseburger?
You get a ball of soggy mush when you get 2 for real.

Back to burger king, there was also 1 up near the Gannow roundabouts joint with little chef.

I prefer burger king burgers and chips, they actually fill you for a while.

I can eat a tenners worth of maccies, burp, and be hungry again.

In North America, we live and die (usually of congestive heart failure) according to the availability of our local burger joint. Here, the champion is Starr Burger, located at the corner of Brock and Starr in Whitby. Huge burger with choice of about 15 toppings, a goodly-sized portion of home-cut fries, and a 20-ounce drink, all for about 10 bucks (that's about 7 quid, for you guys.) Can't beat it. And that's a charcoal-broiled burger, not fried.

I watched American Made there on Saturday night on the back of this thread. Only been to the Burnley one a couple of times, and last time was years ago. It seemed to be done up nice enough but I was surprised how quiet it was for a Saturday night. The film was just ok I thought

Until they get into battles. Down here right now, any size drink is a $1. Any size coffee is 50c. A double cheeseburger is $1.50. Those fruit pies are 2 for a $1 and any of the 'main' sandwiches like Big Mac or Whopper are 2 for $5 pick and mix.

It's all fun and games until the coronary surgeon shows up...

It was definitely Studio 1-2-3 in the Market square. You thinking of Unit 4 a Year Brierfield?

"IT" was partially filmed here in Oshawa. They put up a fake haunted house on one of the main downtown streets. Huge disruptions in traffic flow.

I think most, possibly all of the Odeon cinemas around the country were built in Art Deco style, certainly all the one's I have seen were.

The Rosegrove cinema was in the old Cabaret Club and was novel in that you could get a pint before and during the interval. The seats were like club armchairs as well and really comfortable. I took my now wife there to watch Papillon around 1976.

Hopefully now it's been renovated people, especially young families, will have more respect for it.
Whenever I take the kids, they like to stay till the end while the lights come on and watch the credits and any out takes. As we leave we notice the amount of shite that people leave on the floor is disgusting. I bet they don't do that at home......then again...

I can tell you having recently moved back to the area that the littering issue isn't confined to Burnley.

The lack of respect for many things is a countrywide scourge and the blame is almost certainly the parents (with exceptions). I don't really despair but often feel sad at how bad some parents are when you see them out with their kids.

On the flip side having enough waste bins would help, I don't know about the refurbished cinema as it was a bomb site when we watched Dunkirk but others I've been to are often overflowing with the cinema only a quarter full.

Just been to watch IT on the vip lounge. For 15 quid you get reclining seats. Beer. Wine. Nachos and dips. Chocolate. Peanuts. A magnum and bottle of water. All brought to your seat. Unbelieveble value. Was packed too.

Just been in ‘VIP’ Lounge for Blade runner 2049. As mentioned great value for £15, even though we got the worst seats at the front because it was full - still enjoyable.

Jury out on the film. Less action than expected, felt like it was very slowly building the characters/story line but really they’ll be another edition to this film.

Good edition to town, just need another good option close by.

Also went in the VIP lounge for Blade Runner. Really impressed by the service not bad value for £15 at all.

The film itself I found pretty dire, was almost nodding off at times.

Claretforever did look nicely done in the foyer, comfy sofas and screens. The vip screen only seemed to have four chairs to a row, with 7/8 rows- didn’t feel penned in.

Wasn’t sure if they’d forgotten the magnum my wife said would come half way through because it was near the end and I thought can’t be another half of this
