Scott Arfield
Surely there should be a thread about our Canadian international tonight?
Took his goal well.
Never seems to get the credit he deserves.

He reminds me of Doug Collins in his prime.

Re: Scott Arfield
Arfers was excellent until he got called up to the Canada squad, bizarrely he then was poor for a good while. I would not have been bothered had he moved on in the summer but this season, he has played fantastically well so far and I hope he can maintain this form.

To be fair there was a thread earlier which has been swamped and buried a bit in all the excitement.NL Claret wrote:Surely there should be a thread about our Canadian international tonight?

I agree he has been superb since he joined us in 2013 and deserves huge credit - (and the freedom of Burnley)

Amazing few games for someone that I thought would be gone in the summer.
Shame on me, well done Scott

As with most players he improves when those around him improve. He really has stepped up again

Re: Scott Arfield
Training with Canada taught him how to pass. Incredibly for a player that couldn't before he now plays well centrally.

I love Arfield, maybe not the most gifted player in the squad but reliable over several seasons and chips in with some important, and well taken, goals like today.

Re: Scott Arfield
Yes, a well taken goal yesterday. I'm pleased for him. He's a very well liked member of our squad and clearly loves playing for us. I too thought his time with us was up come the end of last season. If I could have chosen between keeping him and Boyd I'd have chosen the latter some months ago. Now I'm less sure and that's credit to Arfield's recent performances.

Re: Scott Arfield
Scott Arfield eptomises Burnley FC and what we are about.
Free transfer playing just over 170 games in four seasons, starting his fifth with us (3rd in Premier) and scoring 21 goals in the process from midfield.
Underrated by so many except SD and his coaching team......oh and of course his team mates.
Released by Huddersfield he has sent just the right message to SD when he contemplates his team for next week.
Anyway this is just a reminder of Mr Arfield's quality and what you've missed out on 'Udders !

(Sadly Premier League goals not included)

Re: Scott Arfield
Just listened to the Scott Arfield interview on ClaretPlayer.
A well rounded, mature young man and a credit to himself, the club and his family.
Not to mention us!

Re: Scott Arfield
I think he's much better suited to the attacking midfield role. A great winger in the Championship but ineffective in the PL.

Re: Scott Arfield
Aye, it may prove to be the case. He certainly can strike a ball. It bodes well to have both him and Hendrick showing they're capable of playing that role in a 451. I like us playing that way too, I think it was clear we needed a plan B away from home and it's working well so far.northernpowerhouse wrote:I think he's much better suited to the attacking midfield role. When he comes to mind, I'll always think of him and Duffer sprinting along
the Deadwood pitch to the fans (as in the above video) to celebrate his goal.
Great stuff. Great player for us.

Re: Scott Arfield
So many wrote him off, said they would rather have Boyd - The same Boyd who can't get a kick at Sheffield Wednesday.
He seems to come alive in the big games, and has a knack of scoring important goals - long may it continue

Re: Scott Arfield
I'm far from Arfield's biggest fan but there is no denying that he will come in and do a good job, wherever he is asked to play.
The finish on Saturday was far more difficult than he made it look. Alongside his performance against Spurs, he's done a great job filling in for Hendrick.
