West Ham and fortress Turf Moor

Post by LoveCurryPies » Mon Oct 02, 2017 9:23 am

One game at a time, so let's focus on the next match.

Easy 3 points or are West Ham going to be much more of a challenge?

What can we do to return the vocal support that made us Fortress Turf Moor?

Would it be illegal to have recorded singing in all the stands except the Cricket Field Stand?

Don't see why not. Liverpool get away with it. Incidentally. Watching Arsenal yesterday and how bad is the atmosphere there? Was like a morgue!

We're picking up more points on the road playing with no fear.....I think this season is going to be a complete reverse of last season..... :o Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we struggled at home and did well playing away..... :?

Appears to be quite an obsession with ' atmosphere' on here of late. Where are the grounds in this country that are 'rocking' every other week? Not the traditional ones in Merseyside or Manchester nor any in London and these are stadia with capacities far in excess of ours. We're in the process of amassing enough points to survive another season in this division and I'm old enough to recall the halcyon days of the 60's when apart from a few games in a season the ground was at best half full.

As brilliant as our away form is, I remain to be convinced that we have what it takes to break down teams that come to the Turf and play like we do away. The main thing I suppose is not to lose to teams outside the top 6. In a funny way, we may find it easier to beat the top 6 here as they will attack us.

I think we all need to understand our limitations and not expect too much at home, even though our recruitment attacking wise has been disappointing overall this season so far.

The top 5 you mean... We don't play ourselves

Well you could argue the media make a huge deal of the Anfield atmosphere, which is quite rightly ridiculed, because it's non existent. I don't give two figs about the atmosphere either. However, you just kind of expect a tad bit more excitement when your team are attacking, scoring, playing nice football. It was just an observation.

There is no logical reason to suppose we will do that. 7 games in and the lads are still learning how to play with each other. (no sexual jokes please)

FWIW, I'm in the CFS, and the atmosphere for the most part, is great.

I've visited numerous grounds over the years, both following Burnley and not, and in general, we do more than OK in my opinion.

If it's not noisy where you sit in the ground, and you want it to be, erm, make some noise.

When we won at Anfield in Sep74 the following Saturday we were at home to West Ham.
We lost 3-5, on a horrible pitch. Expect nothing but play for everything.

Bit of a bogey team are west ham, even now when they are playing crap they always seem to rag points here and there, hopefully we can play them off the park and take the 3 points but some teams seem to have a curse on us and west ham certainly fill that catagorie, they will come for a draw thats for sure

West Ham have won here the last two times when we have been really good at home. We have been indifferent so far so they start as favourites for me.

I'll decline, thanks. 1-0, an OG, will do for me.

It doesn't matter how crap West Ham are, whenever we play them we some how manage to beat their level of crapness. It's about time we beat them though

Outside of the top 5, if you were a manager of the 14 other teams coming to TM what would your strategy be OTHER THAN give up possession to us? We have demonstrated we're not as good with it (generally), with some notable exceptions, such as Hendrick's team goal. On that basis why would you play to our strengths and come to attack?

Our learning, as demonstrated away from home, must surely have teams looking at us differently from last season. And that presents SD a new problem at "fortress TM"

I'd take a draw and save the 3 points for beating city the next week. Whoever reads this knows its going to happen.
