A skilled driver can drive a RWD just as well as a FWD in the snow.

If the balance of weight is 50:50 theoretically there would be no difference.

Very true, if the weight over both axles is the same they'd be no difference.

Over 20 years ago I got to the top of Manchester road and there was a road closed sign due to snow. I drove past it and turned round my trusty mini metro, reversed all the way to the top with door open hanging out so I could see. The only dodgy moments were when the gearbox was lifting the weight off the wheels going over the snow drifts.

Just to note, rear engined rear wheel drive are better than FWD and RWD front engined hence why I reversed, even with snow tyres I had on.

I don't think you get what I'm saying.

You're right about rear wheel drive with a rear engine. But most cars do not have a rearward weight distribution, which is why I've been specifically saying front engined.

I know what your saying and I agree fwd is better than RWD however I am saying tyres make much more difference than front or rear wheel drive.
